Headphone socket won't work

I plug rcs plugs into the headphone outlet on this tv in order to take it to the amplifier, as they are the only outlet sockets on the TV - the only problem is, the sockets don't seem to work. I have tried just pluggin headphones into them and they don't mute the sound from the internal speakers and nothing comes through the headphones

I can't see what other connections I can make as there are no other connections on the television other than Scart

  • nikwak May 18, 2008

Just managed to sove this problem - there are two output sockets on the side of the television. However, they only work with inputs TV, EXT1 EXT 3 and EXT4 + PC which is a pain. It also means you have to do a bit of changing around in the menu to get it to work - another pain.

Thanks for all your help anyway - much appreciated

Dear Customer,

Try this to solve your problem,

you have to check your headset in other system that your headset properly work or not .THIS WAY YOU CAN FIND YOUR HEADSET OR ITS PIN DAMAGE OR NOT.

than you can attach another speaker or another headset to your lcd output ,THIS WAY YOU CAN FIND YOUR PINOUT IS WORKING OR NOT .

than you have to realize that your lcd is not importing cause some models are design for proper country for porper signal identification code,so YOUR LCD MUST NOT IMPORT FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY,

check your volume level of your headset or amplifier,THIS WAY YOU MAY BE GOT YOUR SOUND IF ABOVE ALL ARE SUCCEDED.

you can check your power plug for your amplifier & volume settings also,

approximate 1200 pounds you had spent on this LCD ,
& at last i must have to tell you that before you many customer have same problem with sounds & video also so its failure model in hitachi if you have any warrenty than than replace or try to buy inplace of this model like panasonic LCD's are best,
or you can use your customer number for given with your documents buy on lcd to replace or any damage,USING THIS YOU CAN GET YOUR NEW SOUNDS FROM YOUR DEALER,

if you get still unsolved than contact me personaly

u wil have to replace the headphones jack in ur TV sir..

please do it by a tech or do it urself at ur own risk

tat s the only solution u have got..

  • dewan nafees ahmed May 18, 2008

but make sure tat it is the headphones socket u r trying with..

    that socket is surely dead..

may be due to some loose connections inside ur power board or the socket has gone dead...

When plugging in a wireless headphone in the audio output the tv's speakers shut down. How can I stop this

The speaker cutout feature whenever the headphone jack is connected is a hard-wired feature of the headphone connector, and cannot normally be bypassed without further electronic circuitry and the associated surgery to install a custom modification in the TV. In order to keep the TV speakers on while using the sound elsewhere, you will have to take the audio output from the IR Audio port, if there is one.

Sorry, but you are asking the impossible thing.
Headphone sockets are made, to mute the main sound on every device they are on, when something is inserted.
You can't change that by plugging in anything else. The only way around is a tech who opens the TV, and does a modification internal. He / she must know what to be done, or else the TV will be damaged. I think I could manage it, but Sorry I don't do house calls. Only from my home behind the computer.

How do I get headphones to work on my tv

Faulty headphone socket. If anybody have serviced this set before; might have short circuited the internal contacts of the headphone socket. You have to replace the socket. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

Audio line out does not work on Flat screen LCD TV

Is the external amplifier on 'mute' mode? Also check whether the audio out is available for this model, in the operation manual.

My sony wireless headphones will not work with my new 32" Veira TV when I plug them into the audio ports white/red?

Hi,All the RCA sockets are inputs so you won't be able to plug in your heaphone transmitter into those.
From what I can gather you will need to plug the headphone transmitter into the 3.5mm Jack socket located on the right hand side of the TV near the RCA sockets.

If you only have RCA plugs on your heaphone transmitter you will need one of these pictured below.

You can get them from Maplins electronics or Radioshack if in the us or any good audio outlet.

Hope this helps.

Adding remote control activated ''mute'' to TV headphone jack

Generally when the head phone jack is inserted the speakers will get disconnected automatically.

If you are going to use external amplifier you can try the AV sockets. Opening the TV you may require the special screw drivers some times.

I have a Toshiba 46XV550 LCD TV. It has a headphone jack but this mutes the TV speakers when I plug in wireless headphones. Can I use another outlet (with an adapter) so the TV speakers stay on and I can...

I went to the local electronics store and bought one 2xRCA sockets-3.5mm stereo socket splitter and 2 RCA joiner/couplers and plugged that into the monitor audio plugs at the back of the TV. Works great for a total of $12.00.

Hitachi L26H01U headphone socket doesnt work

User problem!! The main TV volume and the headphone volume work independently so you can have the TV volume set at zero and use the headphone volume. However I suggest getting a pair of headphones with it's own volume control.
