Try hitting <F10> to change boot sequence, I think that CD isn't selected/available, and continues trying to boot from NO OS.

My desktop frequantaly booting what can i do

When you say frequently rebooting; Is it randomly rebooting without warning? Do you get a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) error message? Or does the PC just reboot without any error's other than windows was not shutdown properly?

MOST random reboot issues are caused by Power issues;

-Failing Power Supply
-Blown Capacitors on the motherboard
-Insufficient power to run the system.

These would be a good place to start to troubleshoot if you do not get a Blue Screen Error Message.

-Failing Hard Drive can cause this issue as well but is usually acompanied by a Blue Screen Error of sorts.

-Failing RAM again usually accompanied by a Blue Screen Error.

You can test for failing hardware, by using Hiren's Boot Disk for diagnostic tests on your Hard Drive or Ram.

Hiren's Boot CD 15.2 - http://www.hirensbootcd.org/files/Hirens.BootCD.15.2.zip

You will want to run memtest X86 to test the Ram or Hitachi's Drive Fitness Test or SeaTools to test your hard drive.

This BootCD is not for the typical end user whom may not know there way around the features and options this Tech CD provides.

You will want to burn the Hirens Boot.ISO file to a CD (Burn Image Option) using any of your favorite flavors of burn software.

Hope this helps.

You can also download these diagnostic test individually such as memtest x86 and Hitachi's DFT or SeaTools independently from the Boot CD just by doing a google search. This might be the easier way to perform these tests for people who aren't very savvy with boot CD's.

Blue dump error 0x0000007b error coming

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

How to factory restore my compaq presario f700 with no CD-ROM

It depends on which OS and software came with the computer and the state of the computer. (In all cases do not use the Microsoft System Restore. This will return a computer to the last known good state (revert to a prior version of the registry) but not to the factory installed state.)

To do a recovery without starting Windows:

Some Vista and Win7 machines came with HP Recovery Manager. Press F11 during bootup (BIOS prompt) then if the hard drive is accessible, the Recovery Manager will start. Follow the on-screen directions. (If you changed the OS from originally installed version or repartitioned the drive, this is not available.)

For all other OS and recovery software options, you will need an external (USB) optical drive. The preferred option is a R/W DVD drive to create the recovery media yourself. (HP will send you recovery discs for a fee if the machine is under warranty.)

If you can enter Windows, click Start

I turn on my hp pavilion zd7020us the hp page boots up then goes to safe mode or normal mode page then goes to a very quick blue screen and turns off and starts the whole process over again any ideas

So many computer face this blue screen fetal errors on windows.

This error comes usually when there is problem in software or driver compatibility issue with hardware or operating system.
Also this error comes when there is bed indexing unit in hard drive.
You can solve this errors with following 2 methods.
(1)When you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
Then if you are able to enter in safe mode then uninstall driver or software which you installed recently and face this error.
(2)If you are not able to enter in safe mode Then you need to fix error on hard drive. For that you need windows disk or recovery disk.
Boot your computer with that disk
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
Then save settings and exit bios.
Insert windows disk in cd /dvd rom.
Then it boot with that disk. Then you get this message "Press any key to boot from cd.."
Then press any key.
Then follow the procedure then enter in recovery console mode then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
Then type "y"
Then it fix error on hard drive.
Then check if again you are not able to enter in windows then boot again and this time choose "R" option for repair previous windows " then it repairs old windows then it loads again old windows.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Computer not booting normal or in safe mode says it needs a system recovery disk but got no cd drive

There is a factory restore installed on the harddrive. Using it however, will delete any saved personal documents.
(Pictures, Videos, Music, documents you have created, or saved)
Also deletes any programs, or applications you may have downloaded, or installed yourself.

To proceed with this form of Restoration I suggest you download the Maintenance and Service Guide.
(Really a Manual, not just a guide)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3636382&

On this page scroll down to the first file listing -

HP G6000 Notebook and Compaq Presario F700 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide

(3.77MB in size)

Left click on it.
This is a PDF file download. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

It may take up to 20 seconds before you see the first page.
After you see the first page, you will notice the download progression bar.
Let the file download all the way before looking through it.
Looking through the file before it has downloaded all the way, may break the download connection.

[NOTE*
You can save this file to your computer, so you will not have to download it again. Also so you can burn it off to CD disk. Free up harddrive space, and have the disk handy for viewing anytime you wish.
I will detail how to save it at the end]

Under the Bookmarks heading left-click right on the -
Backup and Recovery, heading.

You are now on Page 103
Use the blue Down Arrow next to the page number box, at the top. Click on the down arrow until you are on Page 106.

Recovering from the partition on the harddrive.

Computer off, press the Power On button. AS SOON as you see -

Press <F11> for recovery,

on the LCD screen, press the F11 key on your keyboard.
Now select, (Click on) - Recovery Manager

When Recovery Manager opens select, (Click on) - Advanced Options

Click on System Recovery, then click on Next.

Follow the instructions.
See something you do not understand in the instructions?
Let me know.

Need help with Restoring computer to factory setting

The system restore you are using is the windows microsoft one and is unable to do a FULL system restore.

The whole process is listed in part of the manual but just in case you cannot find them then you can get the part that you are interested in on the COMPAQ SITE

You are interested in pages 8 to10 it may be that you already have a recovery partition set up which would help you greatly.

This involves repeatedly pressing F11 whilst the computer is booting up and then selecting RECOVERY MANAGER as outlined in this manual. Then selecting ADVANCED OPTIONS / RECOVERY / NEXT.

with any luck that should get you sorted but do remember this process could wipe your personal information so get that off the computer BEFORE you do any of the above.

If you get stuck post back in this thread and I will see what else can be done

System boot problem

This is possibly a bad hard drive. If you know the manufacturer of your hard drive you can download diagnostic tools from their site, burn to cd and run diagnostics to check the drive for errors or failure.

Swapped hard drive into new casw and now it wont boot up

This is due to a hardware conflict.
The system drivers on the hard drive are for the old mother board and devices,You will have to reinstall OS while it is install on the new mother board,The computer cannot boot to a drive that is loaded to another system unless all the devices and drive are identical.

Please rate this a fixya
