I just followed the instructions in the manual I downloaded at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/1735/en/index.htm

It's much more narly than working in a big tower, but the only really tough part for me was lifting up the front panel just above the keyboard--I accidentally disabled the media control buttons. Apart from that it was pretty straight forward--lots of steps, but each simple.

Cd jammed in a dell pp31l

There are two ways toopen the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD driveis faulty and needs replacing.

How am i going to eject the disc manually?

Hello there:
This sounds like to me that your cd rom device is going out on you when the disk gets stuck and refuses to come out what you can do is to get a paper clip and sraightren it out now look on the cd rom door and you will see a verry small hole if you press in on the door button and insert the paper clip in the hole when you see the light for the cd rom door turn on press in on the paper clip failrl hard and it will release the locking mechanism and the door will open for you.
you can try to clean the entire tray and the slides tht the tray runs on get some canned air and spray the area really well on both sides and see if this helps
If not that you may want to consider havaing the cd rom drive replaced ok
Hope this is very help ful for you
