First try to see is there is any lock in your media device or adapter and see if its not locking that media..it looks like slide switch .for one end it will lock the media and when you switch to other side you have the full access
but if that's not the reason it might be the problem with registry
Use the Registry Hack to Disable Writing to USB Drives
Here is the link .just download the zip folder and after opening the folder you will find a file just double click on it..

You all are wrong, the problem with those USB is the same that the Memorex flash memories have, the Vault.

The Vault is an application which allows you to encode the flash memory with blowfish encryption (256 bits), so it could take a life time to decode it by brute force, as this algorythm is capable to resist brute force attacks.

So, it will be imposible (unless you have the key) to restore system attributes to "write enabled", and that's why you can only read files or execute them, but not delete them.

Not easy solution, perhaps asking to the support service they can inform you about what to do in this case, but not much more can be done.

One friend has one Memorex Traveldrive and has the same problem, no way to do anything but buy a new one.

But first try to contact your dealer, perhaps they will be able to help you.

Hope you have better luck than my friend.

I find the way!
first of all my english is not so good ...
I have flash memory (transcend 8GB) and one day I find out that I unable to copy or delete file on it. after search on internet I found nothing.

the answer : open "command prompt" from "start / all programs / accessories"
if the flash is on drive I then type "format i:"
if the flash memory was write-protected then you will see a message that says "the drive is lock , would you like dismount it" you say yes, and then computer will format your flash memory and it will be ok just like new!
I hopeful it help someone...

I experienced the same problem (my USB device ). try these steps:
1. Start, Control Panel,
2. Performance and Maintenance,
3. Administrative Tools,
4. Computer Management,
5. Disk Management,
6. Find the USB drive (usually the last storage device before the optical drive),
7. Click on the USB drive,
8. Right click on it and you will see the options (New Partition or Format)
9. Follow the instruction (I chose FAT32), but please do NOT chose Quick Format.

you mean you can't format your usb flash disk becuase it is write protected?
usually the most cause of that trouble is bad contacts.. the usb cored..or even check the connection.maybe it is lose or bad contact..check also the memory card for bad contacts.. if symptoms persist, go to a qualified personel to fix that problem..

Write-protection flash memory

Connect the drive to your PC. Right-click->click properties->click security tab->"uncheck" the box next to write-protection. That should do the trick.

How to remove write protect on my usb flash drive

I'm trying to spread the news on how I fixed mine just this morning with the same problem. I can't believe how many people have the same problem.

I have heard to format--didn't work for me. I have heard to switch the write-protection button on the side--mine doesn't have one.
I heard to make sure your mp3 is not in 'pause' or 'hold' mode--THAT WORKED FOR ME! It was so simple. I had been messing with the buttons so much I must have put it in pause. Please try it. Good luck.
