Hello there, I am the computer technician that will be assisting you today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.

Welcome to Fixya, Miles Gordon.

This is a typical overheating problem. See, your computer heats up when playing games, in the first 5-10minutes. As the components get warmer they increase the air tempreature in your computer chassis. This heated air is insufficient to cool your Processor and Graphics card, therefore resulting in a Blue Screen of Death known as BSOD.

You are using the GTS240 Graphics card, it is a tiny tot so go easy on the detail settings.
Use the following settings:
Resolution: 1920x1080 if your LCD display supports it.
Anti-Aliasing: off
Anisotropic filtering: off
Set the rest to medium or low.

You will have to play arounf with the other detail settings depending on playability. If it's jittery set it to a lower detail setting.

Install 120mm or 140mm fans in your computer chassis if possible. You should at least have one installed on the side panel to provide freash cool air to the graphics card, processor and power delivery system ,MOSFETs. With an additional 120mm fan installed at the rear of the chassis to exhaust heated air.

Your power supply should be rated for at least 500Watts continuous power output, since the core i7 processor is rather power hungry.

Click here to download Hardware Monitor, to check your tempreatures. Click download now, save the file to your computer and install it.

Your processor temp, should be nothing higher than 70degrees C and the Graphics card nothing higher than 75degrees C.

Take care!

Hi,

The motherboard is good enough and so is your graphics card so i don't see any reason why the games not playing.
Games like star wars galaxies are memory dependent as well as processor dependent.

How much system memory have you got installed in the system? Also have you got a decent AMD dual core processor?

If you think that your system maybe lacking in system memory the what you can do to play the game is set all the settings of the game to medium. That way you can play the game while you wait to upgrade the system.
The game should run on a far less powerful machine according to the system requirements of the game.

If I was you i would uninstall the game and then perform a system defragmentation (defrag), then reinstall the game.

If you want a decent defrag program then i recommend Defraggler >>>>

http://www.filehippo.com/download_defraggler

Download and install the program. Run Defraggler and restart the computer. Install the game and see if it will play without locking up.

Let me know how you get on just in case you need more help.

Good luck.

3d games are not working hp brio ba600

With those computer specs you are going to be limmitted to older or less resource consuming games. You might try turning all the video settings to minimum in the game options, and to turn off everything you dont need in windows itself , while you are playing.
But the bad news is you dont have cpu, video, or memory enough to play most of todays highend 3d games..
Regards.

Computer crashes when I play a favorite game..only time it does it

Hi, My Name is Henry. I am one of the technicians here.

To solve your problem you need to check if the game software is compatible with your hardware, like your processor, video and sound. The way to do this is to check the back of the CD casing of the game or manual for compatibility.

Another possibility is that, If the game is very high video resolution it could slow down the processor unit or over heat it, you may have to reduce it by going to the game settings.

Also try getting a better cooling system (fan or liquid cooler) and upgrade your system memory and others

Please do not forget to rate my solutions to you.

Henry

Problem playing a computer game I bought

what game is it? sometimes your graphics hardware can stop games from working if you haven't got the right hardware. or sometimes it can be as simple as not having the right version of direct x installed on your computer. Check the requirements for the game on the back of the disk case then check that you have all of the recommendations that it asks for e.g. graphics card, direct x, harddrive space, 3d accelaration etc..
