Question about Compaq A1000 InkJet Printer
Good pm. My sister gave me her Compaq A1000 which she was using with Windows 98. I am using Windows XP and downloaded the supposedly updated driver for it (sp15246) which I got from HP website. It still won't work.
Before I could print, it is asking for a modem driver which I don't have since I am a DSL subscriber and WIndows XP automatically picks this hardware. Do I really need a fax modem program to makes the printer work? I don't need the fax, can I disable it? It seems that this is the problem. Or is it? I have installed and reinstalled the drivers but it still won't work. Need help.
Go into the control panel go to system properties then device manager then disable the fax modem card in the list and if its an onboard device then disable it from the BIOS. you dont need a faxmodem card for your internet as its required for dialup connection.
