I have a 50 inch toshiba rear projection tv.Yesterday it just shut off.It has no picture and when you try to turn the power on,you get nothing,and the power light flashes off and on.

Its a toshiba 50h71.The blinking power light blinks constantly.When you plug it in and hit the power button,you first hear the sound as if the tv is gonna come on but you get nothing on the screen,no sound or picture and the power light just keeps blinking off and on as long as I keep the power on.

please post the model number of your set and also let me know how many times the light is blinking as its most likely an error code. But need the info on model number and mumber of blinks to determine what the problem most likely is.

Check the solder connections on capacitors C809 and C810 they are located on the left side of the chassis looking in from behind also check fuse FL860 as the solder joints could open that fuse. usually when the power led lights but the set wont power up its those two capacitors with bad solder joint on the negative side.
