CANON PIXMA MP160 E3 error

Hi all! My trouble is the following: when I try to print or to make a copy, the paper goes through blank, then the next leaf, and then E3 appears. What do I have to do? Probably there is a problem with cartridge, or?

CANON MP160 E3 error code problem.

My printer attempts to feed the paper, then it stops, E3 error code appears, I press green <|> switch to feed through the suposedly jammed paper, the paper feeds through the printer. (no paper jam to block it)

I try again to print, the same thing occurs. (still no jam)

OK CANON, about time you lot got off your backsides and addressed this problem, you are getting a BAD product name with this range of printers.

How about some FIXes before you lot got no customers left.

I pulled my printer apart (because it is mine now, not yours) twice to look for the jammed paper, THERE IS NO PAPER JAMM. do you hear us all THERE is something else wrong. OK..

    By the way your printer ink C O S T S T O O O M U C H T O B U Y

It is a rippp offf, 1 litre of petrol costs $1.34, your Black ink costs $21.00 for 2x 20ml plastic refills, you lot are just GREEEEEEADY

Now if its not too much trouble, I would like a repair fix.

    Have a nice day

ESSA PESSA é A MAIOR DAS 2 RODAS DE BORRACHA QUE PODEMOS VER QUANDO OLHAMOS NO LUGAR ONDE COLOCAMOS AS FOLHAS. OBS: é BEM FACIL DESMONTAR A IMPRESSORA.

I work in a shop repairing these printers and have had a large number with the same fault - displaying E-3 with no jam in the paper path. This is caused by a broken part in the paper feed mechanism that pevents the printer from taking the paper. The part located right at the bottom of the printer looks like two white gears connected together with a central spring. At present I am trying to find a supplier of the spare parts - will check back.

I solved this error by powering it off, picking it up, and shaking it violently. There was clearly no visible piece of paper jamming it so whether it was dust or just the sensor acting up, it is now fixed

I did the same after spending hours of troubleshooting trying to fix an E-3 error when I could clearly see there was no paper jam. Kinda silly having to admit it, but it simply needed a good throttling I guess. I was just about to take a bat to the thing when I read this post. Thanks.

I got the same error E3 paper jam, with no visible jam. I used a Compressed Gas Duster to it and sprayed everywhere I could in that darn printer...then pushed through 3 papers (to clean it), then it started working again!

My cannon MP160 pixma keeps telling me there is a paper jam when there is no paper in it, it will copy and give me color tests printed out but if i try to print a doc. It says E# paper jam

Hello thanks for using fixya

Actually you are facing E3 error, E3 error is mostly because of paper jam. their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon service provider.

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u

Canon Pixma MP160 shows errors E3 and won't print

Hi there,

Error E3 : Check if the paper has jammed in the machine, reload the paper in the machine correctly and then press [Black] or [Color].

Paper Jams :
Cause : Paper jams in the paper output slot/ Auto Sheet Feeder.
Landscape Credit Card sized paper jams inside the machine.

Action : Remove the paper according to the following procedure.
1) Slowly pull the paper out, either from the Auto Sheet Feeder or from the paper output slot, whichever is easier.
* If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the machine, open the Scanning Unit and remove it. Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine at this time. After removing the paper, close the Scanning Unit, turn the machine OFF and turn it back ON.
* If you cannot pull the paper out, turn the machine OFF and turn it back ON. The paper will eject automatically.

2) Reload the paper into the machine and press [Black] or [Color].
* If you have turned OFF the machine in step , you will need to retry printing, because this operation cancels any print jobs in progress.

If you cannot remove the paper or the paper tears inside the machine, or if the paper jam error continues after removing the paper, contact a Canon service representative.
Important : You cannot load Credit Card sized paper in the landscape orientation.

Hope this helps.
Have a good day.

Error E3 on Pixma MP160

Looks like there is something stuck in the insides of the printer preventing it from running to one side. A small paper clip, Ball pin etc., can cause this. You might have to take it apart and look for it. I had fixed a similar problem recently and the stuck object is "HAIR BALL!"

Pixma mp160 error message

Ok, my machine was also showing E3, and would NOT go away. My solution: turn the machine off, feed a piece of thick cardstock into the paper feed.Turn the machine on, let the machine take the paper almost all the way in, then pull it back all the way out against the feed. My E3 disappeared and has not yet returned!! Hope this helps David
