Question about Toyota SE-06 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Open Question

Toyota 5000 Sewing Machine

Hi,

I have an old Toyota electric sewing machine which has always been very reliable. The place I bought it from has closed down some years ago. It has suddenly stopped feeding the material, either backwards or forwards. We took the top off and oiled various bits with little effect. Changing the stitch side does not make any difference.

Can you help please?

Thanks for trying but yes I have had the machine for a number of years and the teeth are just above the plate, but maybe not as high up as they used to be but I cannot see how I can raise them up.

SOURCE: backward stitching

Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.

SOURCE: started sewing backwards now not moving material at all

Sounds like the machine's age is causing the lubrication to get sticky.

Try changing the pattern by moving the pattern selector around.

Take out the bobbin and remove the thread and presser foot, raise the presser lever, set the pattern to zig zag, set the stitch length to maximum and run the machine at full speed. While it's running, repeatedly press the reverse lever all the way down. Run it for at least a few minutes.

Hi,

Can you get inside to get at the lever? Spray the reverse mechanism with sewing machine oil or WD40. Be sure to clean the mechanism first.
If the feed direction is forward after you oil it, great! If not, it's off to the repair shop.

I hope this works for you. Thanks for visiting fixya.com

Homestyles sewing machine F08 702 H 01: Are they ALL caca, or just mine?

If it was purchased second-hand, very likely something is wrong with the machine or the owner didn't know how to use it. It is always best to test and have the owner show you how to use the machine before purchasing. From the information found online, this is a very economical level sewing machine--even new.

JMHO, but purchasing an old mechanical machine from a sewing machine shop for $60 would probably yield a more reliable machine. For most sewing, a straight stitch and zig-zag are the most frequently used stitches. So, if you are unable to purchase an upper-scale machine with multiple built-in design stitches for several hundred dollars, stick with a simple mechanical.

Sewing machine keeps jamming, inable to turn hand wheel or sew

Generally, unable to turn the hand wheel can mean that:
1) there is thread or lint jammed in the bobbin area and it needs to be cleaned out. If you take anything apart, very carefully lay the parts out in a row the way they came off and don't let anything knock them out of order. If there is an up or a down, remember which way it was in there. Cell phone photos generally work well for this, or a digital camera that can do close up if possible.
2) the machine has been sitting a long time, stored in a damp place, under adverse conditions, etc. and may have got crud or old oil gummed up in the internals so it won't move.

This, always supposing that the machine has not been dropped and the main shaft bent.

If cleaning the bobbin area does not work, and oiling where your manual indicates ONLY with sewing machine oil does not work, then you may have to take it in to a sew and vac repair.

Get Singer brand sewing machine oil (walmart, joanns or michaels, hobbylobby), or sewing machine oil from a sew and vac repair or sewing dealer. Do not use anything else on it unless you do your research and know what a sewing machine needs. You can make it worse with the wrong chemicals.

I have a brand new reliable industrial sewing machine msk-8400bl18. i had a sewing machine guy out that showed us how to use machine, thread etc. about a month ago. everything went smooth and sewing...

hi.
given that the machine is only a month or so old, the best advice i can give you is to do nothing to the machine and call the sewing machine guy out to repair it for you. a brand new machine like this will be covered by the warranty. as long as you have actually switched the machine on properly, any faults are the responsibility of the supplier at this stage.

I need to know where i can find a bobbin for a janome sewing machine in the philadelphia area

After I bought my machine years ago, I bought a whole bunch of bobbins on Ebay! Cheap, too. And I have never come close to using all of them. That's a great place to start. Good luck.
