After you make repairs you can remove the 4A AC fuse and jumper a 150W light bulb across it. When set is turned on and no shorts are present, the bulb will glow. If it comes on bright, immediately turn off TV. More work needs to be done. If when Negative lead of VOM is connected to TP3 and the Positive lead to TP7 and with Plug P108 unplugged from power supply panel you have a low ohms reading, be sure to check D20 with one side lifted out of board. It is in series with a small RF choke and will read shorted if not unsoldered.

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV's - power supply problem?

Forgive my thoughts on this matter as I have not researched properly to totally understand but: If the power supply of said TV were a bit on the "touchy" side of things, would it not be wise to also invest in a serious surge protection device [such as this: Link ] that could help filter the AC power to avoid upsetting the power regulator within said Television set?

Has a setup like this been tried before?

TV won't turn on

there is a surge protector on the main power board this has probably blown. or the main power board fuse or plug fuse. check them one by one. there even may be a secondary fuse in the tv around 3amp witch can blow. it will have red and black lines on it or orange that is the rating of the fuse. surge protector is like a battery shap round with 2 prongs onto the board.

Panasonic TH-58PZ850U, red LED light blinks 6 times..TV will not turn on

Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.

Power surge tv won't turn back on

Check and replace its main power regulator board. Before replacing it, check the fuse, can be located on this board itself.

Hi, A few days ago I had a power surge. I went to the shops and replaced the fuse. When I turn on the tv all that happens is that the LED light flashes 10 times. Whats the problem and how can i fix...

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Good luck....

Pana TH-52PWD8UK. No picture, flashing red LED on front panel

Thanks for the quick answer. I purchased the set in 2005 and it lives outside under an overhang on my patio in humid South Florida. Unfortunately, I couldnt count the red flashes before it went completely dead. Think it was 4or 5. This would correspond with a possible fuse failure on the Power supply. I bought the online service manual, I just wish I knew what to do with it!! The fuses both seem to check out ok on a continuity check. any ideas? Thanks, Charlie

Panasonic plasma hdtv will not power on--no blinking LED, simply no LED. Other objects plugged into same surge protector are fine; no evidence or suggestion of a power surge.

The power supply board itself maybe the main problem inside the TV. Or, it maybe something simple like a blown fuse. Replacement fuses can be found at Radio Shack or some other electronic supply store.
If it turns out the TV keeps blowing fuses, the main power supply may need to be replaced. You can find replacements at a good price at Shopjimmy.com

Panasonic TH-42PX60B

THE 10 flash code is for the power supply

The Seven flash code is for the SC pcb (ysus) it is best to change the SC, SU, SD pcbs as one can take one of the others out
and if you add a new SC and one of the others is faulty then you will have another dead SC pcb
