i want to do home video editing but after my JVC GR- D270AG dvc is connected to the usb port and I try to capture, a message says that either the camera is not connected or I must install software - which I do not have

Apprenticehttp://www.wm.edu/LRC/LYT1354-001A.pdf Go to this site for your manual. Look up video editing in the menu. You need a firewire connection to get digital video (DV) out and into a computer. If you are using XP with service pack 2 upgrade, you need to go to microsoft support and download 885222, a fix for the fact that SP2 screwed up camcorder recognition on firewire. and if that doesn't work, you can download 322756 and read how to install a registry fix manually. And if that doesn't work, I would forget about video editing and take up surfboarding Dr. dixie
