Question about Nokia 6120

1 Answer

Audio output After attempting to connect some incompatible desk speakers (and failing), the audio output (when playing audio files) is now through the small speakers generally used for making calls, as opposed to the usual speaker on the side, which is far louder. Does anyone know of a way to rectify this?

When I try to listen to audio items (ringtones, etc.) on my phone, I cannot hear them. Is there a setting that I must change or is it just not possible?

Just go to the menu of your cellphone search the multimedia or audio player when you are in the audio player or multimedia press options then search for the setting then you will see there the volume adjustment in playing audio files if it still not working maybe there is a problem with the speaker of your phone

The phone's volume is too low when you play songs.

Possible fault off the speaker, possible clogging of dirt in the pores of the speaker which can reduce the volume.
remove clean and reset, if the volume does not improve, replace the speaker - unless the audio output level is too low - possible audio amp being faulty.

My iPhone plays videos on the Internet but no sound comes out, why Is that???

If your having problems with no audio from youtube, myspace and flash video. I suggest this

When watching web pages with embedded Flash video or animation such as movie or video clip on YouTube and MySpace using Mac OS X, users may hear no sound. The no sound audio output problem happens despite video playback is fine, and the issue can happen on any web browser, i.e. Safari and Mozilla Firefox. Strange thing is that, when using other applications such as RealPlayer, QuickTime Player and VLC Player, the sound is played properly. And no audio output issue does not affect embedded QuickTime including HD contents on the web.

Apple Mac OS X support site explains that the no audio from certain multimedia content issue is caused by some audio applications that change the computer's audio settings to a sample rate that is too high for other applications to use. The notorious programs include certain versions of Real Player, VLC Player and Audacity.
The solution to solve the Internet movie no sound or audio output is to reset the audio setting in Mac OS X to original configuration:
  1. Open "Audio MIDI Setup" (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the "Audio Output" setting.
  2. Change the "Audio Output" setting to 44100.0 Hz.
  3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.
If the Audio Output setting is grayed out or disabled, go to "Properties For" tab in Audio MIDI Setup, and select "Built in Output".

I hope this helps

I put music on my sd card but when I put my Sanyo Zio phone I can't play these songs

hello fredmoney60 your problem is most likely that your songs are in a incorrect format. as in that your phone plays .mpg and .wma and what your trying to play is .acc or another incompatible format. you can convert your music to your phone format by using this program

I'm trying to play a video on a Sony Ericsson W350i, but it won't show the image - only play the audio. Does anyone know how I can view the video?

I feel your pain regarding the w350i and the problems you are having getting it to play video. I finally got mine sorted today so let me give you some help which I promise you will work. It took me a month of exchanging angry emails with Sony Ericsson to finally find out the file format, container, and resolution and if you don't get this right, you'll just get audio when you try to play your videos. The people at SE tried to fob me off with "The w350i doesn't play videos" but I wasn't having any of it, and eventually they gave me the information I was looking for.

First of all, get a copy of SUPER from Erightsoft & install it. It's free, and is great because it gives you complete control over the many aspects of a video file. Then choose these settings EXACTLY (ones you can vary to your personal taste are maked with a "*"):

Output Container: 3gp (Nokia/NEC/Siemens) that's right, not the Sony Ericsson option!
Output Video Codec: H.263
Output Audio Codec: AAC

Check the Direct Decode box.

Video Size: 176:144
Aspect: 11:9
Frame/sec: 12.5
Bitrate: 192* (play around with this setting to get your favourite trade-off between file-size & picture quality, but beware that bitrates over 320 will give you audio/video sync issues)

Sampling Frequency: 44,100* (you can set this lower if sound quality is less important)
Channels: 2* (select "1" for mono sound and a slightly smaller filesize)
Bitrate: 112* (for a decent sounding audio, you can reduce if you are using the speaker rather than headphones. If you go any higher you may get sync problems)

SUPER actually lets you save your settings, so if you would like me to send/upload a copy of my settings file, just shout & it will import all these settings for you.

Also, while you are playing around with SUPER, a handy option is to encode only the first "x" seconds of a file. So you can do lots of different short encodes at different settings to find out what works best for you. Just select options on the right hand side of the SUPER window and a pop-out box will appear. Here you can tweak the volume (a little boost is usually good) and also auto generate a jpg you can use as a thumbnail.

Don't bother using the SE transfer software, just drag and drop your 3gp files into the Videos folder on your w350i in file transfer mode.

If you would like me to upload a sample file to see my results and make sure they play on your phone first, just shout.
