Pioneer DEH-P700BT Problem with FM Channels

I have a USA version of the Pioneer DEH-P700BT and I cannot tune in to all the European channels. For example I can tune in to but not to 101.9 and 102.1 but I can not get 102.0, or 101.0

This effectively means I have lost half my channels.

Any tips would be more than welcome

Do you know where I can get a schematic of the DEH-P700BT? Or better still, how I would manage to identify which component I need to replace?

    Thanks

Thanks for the link. It does offer some hints, but I wouldn't risk opening a brand new stereo without knowing excatly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately that link is for a different model. Doubt the solution would be the same :(

Hi,

This is a firmware restriction. US version would tune from 87.5 to 107.9MHz at 0.20MHz interval (steps) while European versions would tune from 87.5 to 108MHz at 0.05MHz interval (steps).

In some versions, there is a resistor/diode matrix on the logic circuitry that selects the region of usage. But of course this would require opening the unit up and somebody who is very very familiar with digital and analog circuitry and components as well as surface mounted component soldering.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

No exact schematic diagram. However, this site would give you an idea of the logic/matrix mod.

    Cheers.

Does the pioneer dvr-720H-s connect to digitial tv?

The pioneer dvr-720H-S doesn't have a digital tuner. It has a PAL and a SECAM tuner (the European version). You'll need a digital to analog converter or a cable/satellite receiver to provide a signal for the unit to record the digital channels.

The specification list for the DVR-702H-S is available here: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/archive/DVR-720H-S/index.html .

I wish that I had better news for you. Note: the most common D-T-A converters have SD output.

Unable to tune frequency in the step of 0.1Mhz in my DEH-3700MP audio system.Example if i want to tune 104.0MHz it will tune to either 103.9 or 104.1MHz.

Skipping all the technical stuff, each FM broadcast channel is 0.2 MHz wide and starts on an even number. The lowest channel for example is, 87.8MHz - 88.0MHz. Radios will tune to the center channel, ie 87.9 MHz. Any FM station in the United States is always an odd number, therefore radios in the US will never tune to an even number

I have a Pioneer DEH-P2000. How do I program the channels?

On most of the Pioneers you can program the channels by tuning to the station you want, then pressing and holding the number key you want it stored to.

Hope this helps

How can I adjust my Toyota Tercel'98 FM radio for European frequencies. It only tunes the Odd (USA) frequency channels like 89.1, 89.3, 89.5 etc

You will have to replace the radio with a European radio to pick up Euripean frequencies. You have a USA radio in your car and it will have to be replaced.

Do not have manual. Need to program tuner channels and clock.

For clock turn key on and stereo off. Press and hold the function button for 3-5 seconds. the clock should appear with the hours flashing. Use the up-down buttons to set hours. Push the right button to set the minutes. Now turn on the stereo with the source (or power) button and your done!
Remember key on stereo off. hold function, the rest will become second nature once you've done it a few times.
Tuner pre-sets are super easy. Tune to the station you want and then just hold the # button (1-6) that you want that station on for about 3 seconds. The channel your on, (e.i 104.9) will flash a couple of times and then stop flashing. When it stops flashing it's in the memory. Tune your next channel and hold # 2,3,4,5,6, If 6 isn't enough push BAND and your on FM-2 with 6 more pre-sets, Push it again for FM-3 with 6 more presets. Push it a 3rd time for the AM band with 6 pre-sets and one more time to get back to FM-1.

European Wiring harness not compatible with US bought Stereo

This is not as straightforward as you may think.

You can certainly buy a generic adapter harness which will plug into the European DIN harness and then provide you with the bare wire tails to patch into. You may even find one which plugs directly into the rear of your head unit without the need for patching.

But you'll find that your head unit still won't work properly as the US uses a different FM channel range to Europe (US frequencies are odd, e.g.102.7, Euro frequencies are even e.g.102.8). The channel spacing is also different.

The radio itself cannot be converted, but you may be able to buy an external converter. It won't be cheap, and the head unit display will still always show the wrong frequencies. Channel changing may have to be done directly on the adapter and not on the head unit as I don't think that the DEH-P3000 has any way to communicate a request for a channel change to any external device and this also means that radio channel presetting may be impractical/impossible.

Considering that the DEH-P3000 is an obsolete unit and nothing special to begin with you can buy a brand new Euro-spec head unit of equivalent quality for less than the cost of adapting your unit and it will work correctly without any awkward Heath Robinson adaptations.

Sell your Pioneer back to the USA where it belongs or bin it as it's useless over here.

Setting radio stations

The solution for setting the radio station on a Pioneer DEH P2000, is to tune the station you want programmed and hold down the desided channel number until the program number appears on the display.
