When connected to usb, computer does not recognize unit. Also unit does not turn on.

hi there,

it might be broke
.
to check if u can access it via pc, make sure>
-u do have an USB 2.0 port
-u have installed the proper drivers
(see CD that came with it-there are drivers for win98, if your winversion is win98 t!)
-if u are using windows vista, this will cause trouble, hard to fix,
try to connect to an winxp or win2000-PC instead!

this device should not need any drivers to function, the manufacturer(disney) does not provide any drivers,
but a firmware(internal driver software)
update can be found...

if you accidentally erased it, check out disney.com !
download, install and update your driver...

good luck

ITunes freezes after 8.1 upgrade on Vista PC

Apple has made it harder and harder to use our ipods over the last upgrade especially.
I am running itune 8 on vista home basic and I have the same problem.
But since I repair ipods i put numerous ipods on this system and it doesn;t work that great with any of them.
although I have found one solution that really has helped with alot of connection issues and ipod crashing in vista. I installed a usb 2.0 card in my computer and only use it for my ipod cable and it has helped.
Most of the iPods and iPhones only will connect with a 2.o usb port anymore.
So if you have a usb 2.0 use it, if you need drivers get them and reinstall them in your computer to get the fast usb connection. it is still slow in itunes but it's much better.

as for iTunes 8 and why it crashes, well it is an apple product. the don;t care about the ipod, it's a throw away product for them. They want you to buy a new one. But in this day and age, they should give us a break and start making the products so they are user friendly. Thats why Mac has never really exploded. They are too expensive and they don;t support their products. Even the Geniuses at the genius bars in Apple store done know **** about their own products, they just give refubished ****.

Good luck and sorry for the Rant!!!

Insignia player + Napster + Vista SP1 = headache!

Yay for Vista :(

Here are a couple of options:

1) Try uninstalling the device driver and then reconect the player to re-install the driver.

2) Try re-installing Napster, or look for an update to Napster since this may be a common bug that Napster is aware of and has fixed.

I tried to get vista to download the driver, and it said none was available for the Fuxion Genie. Their site only has XP drivers.

That is a common problem these days, and one of the difficulties about owning a new OS. Manufacturers will need to provide their products' users with drivers that will support Vista when they are not cross compatible. I would contact your item and see if they are working on a resolution. YOU may be able to use similar products, different manuf drivers to get yours recognized. Do a GOOGLE for your product and see if there are any others out there that have found drivers for your player. IT is possible to set a computer up dual-boot OS's, Windows XP and Vista CAN coexist. Hope this helps!
