Ok this is a simple problem, each month you are allocated a certain amout of downloads. Could be 1 gb, 2gb, 5gb etc, you have gone over you allocated download amount. When you go over you download limit you internet speed gets dropped from 256kb down to dialup speed - usually 56kb or 64kb. You should be able to check out with your internet provider when your downloads get reset.

Shareaza bad downloading not more than 30 kb s my system is window  vista,  modem is thomson st 780 wl from kpn,  port 6346 , what now?how must i configurate the fire wall and modem speed...

your downloading speed depends on your connection primarily and not your modem, check what connection you have. the downloading speed is much less than the connection speed.
conncection---------downloading speed(Avg) 256kbps 30kbps 512kbps 60kbps 1mbps ~110kbps etc.
You must be having a 256 Kbps connection that is why your downloading speed is very slow.

Download issue n inter net issue

try reinstalling your windows your OS might be corrupted from a Virus infection. viruses or worms usually hog your Internet , that might result to a slow internet connection..
Also if you have a 256kbps connection, your download speed of 25KBper sec is normal
because 256,000 kbps / 8bits = 32 KB/s (thats your maximum dl speed)
but assuming there is a loss in transmission about 15- 20% lost your max dl speed is only 25.6 KB/s thats why your connection is normal.

Slow download speed in 256kbps

Hi Naveen,
The transfer rate is at its optimum for one-fourth the total connection speed.
Since your connectio is 256 hence you should be getting 60-65 average speed.
Try using DAP (DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR) which is available free from the following site...
www.speedbit.com
Hope this works out.
Reply ASAP if it works.
Thanx.

RE: router problem

You're welcome. anything to help out.

I'm sure you still have the phone filters installed.
So,
Run a speed test from here.
Then, compare it to the speed that you're paying for. For ex., you might be paying for a 1500 Kbps download and 256 Kbps upload.

If any speed (upload or download) is lower than 50 Kbps, call your service provider and tell them that you are not receiving the reasonable speed you paid for and that you have already cleaned your "cache" (they will suggest that you clean several files from your computer but that does not affect your speed).

Thank you for responding. Its rare for people to respond to helpers.
