Tape gets stuck inside while recording, it's fine while playing or rewinding. I think it get inside the Recording head or something. It also wrinkles the tape and makes the sound like warped

Hello, i would suggest manually cleaning the heads, capstan and pinch roller. This requires only isopropol alchohol and q-tips.The metal post coming out is the capstan , if its brown than you will want to clean it back to chrome, above it is the pinch roller clean that as well. Finally there are your heads simply clean the tops of both . Sometimes old tapes become tacky and sticky so consider the age of your cassette as well.

GE VG4270 vcr power turns off quickly when recording or playing a tape

Have someone look inside---if tape is not loading all the way against the video heads or tape does not move in play-rewind-FF then there is a problem with the transport mechanism which is what performs these functions.

try cleaning the record head, Most people only clean the play back heads on tape players, the record head is just off to one side of the main playback heads , you can use a Qtip and rubbing alcohol to do the cleaning

When recording using the VCR, the audio sounds like it's under water. Something is wrong with the audio head in recording the sound.

I can't believe people still use these things!
In any case - Everytime you play a tape, record, rewind, fast forward, etc, the tape runs over heads on your VCR. Those heads can become filthy with dust and magnetized.
What you need is a head cleaner/demagnetizer. I'm not sure where you'd find this these days, maybe radio shack?

Hi,

It sounds like the tape itself is damaged. Get an head cleaner cassett and clean the mechanism. This will clean the wheels and heads that tape runs over. Also try a new tape cassett to see what happens and listen to the camcorder for any crunching sounds as this would suggest that something has broken inside the camcorder.

Good luck.

Sony 8mm camcorder will record sound but no video

Since it is playing the tape, the play head is ok. Now recording is done by recording heads so you may have a clogged heads or damaged recording heads. Try to clean the heads with head cleaning tape to see if it would help. 1. remove the tape and leave the door open. 2. using a canned air, blow out any dusts in the tape area. 3. run head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds and no more. 4. try the recording.. If this does not resolve, you may have a damaged or heavy clogged video heads. Take it to nearest video technician for a diagnostic. -James

Vcr eating and/or ejects tape

Tape heads should be cleaned first and gears lubricated. This job can be done at home if you purchase lithium grease and are very careful not to get it on the heads or spools. Greasing should only be done if you are confident in opening it up. Otherwise, seek a cheap professional.

Will not play back

Usually if there is no impact injury involved or nagging intermittent past problems, you probably have a head cleaning issue. Try a dry type (reccomended) cleaning tape. Should be able to purchase at Best Buy or similar store. Good luck, magic seadog

My VCR is playing too fast

try recording on a blank tape and setting the tape speed to SP (standard play). you should also see options for (LP-long play) and SLP (super long play). I think your machine is stuck on SLP option. if no-go, look for a manual on the web.

Vcr tape problem

It sounds like the tracking information is being lost for brief periods of time. Tracking is recorded at the lower edge of the tape, and if the tape is wrinkled or otherwise damaged in this area, playback will go out to lunch. A visual check of the tape would be in order. Have the heads been cleaned in these machines? This would be another area to check.... Also, there could be small differences in the tape path alignments, perhaps the control/audio head alignment is slightly different between the 2 machines.
