Cycle of Rebooting

Recently my notebook has had this problem where it loads up and says windows did not start properly. i then gives me the choices of safe mode to starting normal. Whichever when i choose it proceeds to go to the normal windows sign in. It suddenly blacks out and occasionally shows a blue screen which I can not read. then it begins the cycle again. Any tip?

Without knowing what the blue screen says the only suggestion I can make is to load the Windows XP cd when prompted hit the R key to enter the recovery console. When your at the command prompt type chkdsk /r it will take about an hour. Hopefully that will fix it.

My Toshiba A50 won't start. Just gives a choice between running windows normally and repairing (recommended) on the ground that it either didn't turn off correctly due to power cut or has some

Try going into safemode
After you see the Toshiba logo disappear. Press and hold the F8 button.

You should get a choice. Choose Safemode. If it loads try doing a system restore.

Unfortunately, if it does not load, then your Windows OS is too corrupted and needs to be re-installed. You will need the original disc that came with your laptop to do this.

One day the operating system stopped and now there is a blank screen, what can i do without paying the geeks to fix it?

The problem may be because of a corrupted windows version or a ruined Hard drive:

Problem may occur if you have a CD, a DVD when you start the computer.

the following elements are corrupted and will not load during the boot sequence of the computer:
  • Master boot record
  • Partition tables
  • Boot sector
  • NTLDR file
Could you deal with these last reasons without experts?

OK,which OS do you have?

Assuming Win-XP? ... When the computer is booting up (before windoes graphics) keep on tapping the F8 key to boot into safe mode. You should then be able to identify what is stopping Windows from booting properly.

- Have you just installed any software / drivers?
- Check the error logs and device manager to see if anything is wrong

Difficult to boot. I must try 5-10 times or press the mainboard.

When rebooting or shutting down, hold the power button for at least five seconds.

Try rebooting and hitting the F8 repeatedly as soon as the boot sequence starts. When it comes up to an options screen select repair. From there you can let windows try to repair or select to install to the factory settings.

Startup

You'll have to check if windows is loading before it restarts. If windows starts loading before it shuts down and just loops all over again, you can easily fix this by simply re-installing your operating system. you can do this by booting from the recovery discs that came with the laptop. Now if the rebooting cycle happens before windows starts loading then this could either be a RAM or a motherboard issue and will need to be serviced.

If you don't have a copy of the recovery discs, you can always call Toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 and purchase one from them.
