Defrost problem water leaks into the frig from the freezer when it goes into auto defrost

I have the Frigidaire Refrigerator model # FRT21Il4FW2, and I also have the water leaking into the bottom of the frig, collecting under the crispers. It seems that the water will drain from the freezer to the collection pan unit, with the light, etc. It seems to have a drainage block in the line itself. I took a can of compressed air, and tried to blow out the debris, but to no success. It seems the drain line is not accessible to service...I tried to convince a clothes hanger down there...but it seems to get stuck approx 8-10 inches in to the line. Any suggestions??

Drain line in the back of the refrigerator is restricted in some way . it may be plugged near the drain collecting pan air trap or loop.

Model #970658324 leaking water from the freezer to top shelf of frig once a week probably with defrost cycle. Help!

more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. Over time it gradually builds and starts voer a larger area. Being you have a top mount refrigerator(freezer on top) there are air ways that connect the freezer to the fridege, which is how its cooled. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt
If thats not an option that you want to use the actual repair method would be to 1) unplug the machine 2) empty everything out of the freezer so you'll have room to work 3) take all the shelving and baskets out 4) locate the screws on the rear wall inside the freezer and remove them 5) take the back panel off exposing the evaporator coils ( the aluminum ) 6) directly below the coils is a trough of sorts and the drain is usually in the middle and runs out the bottom, remove the ice by carefully chipping it out or by using a hair dryer or hot water. 7) once all the ice is gone, the drain is visible and water can flow smnoothly down the drain dry the area and reassemble.

The inside of freezer is leaking from back wall - there is no ice maker. water that leaks is freezing and taking up space. what can be causing this

the drain line is clogged causing the ice build up .the frig has to defrost every 6 to 8 hours so every time it defrosts is when it will leak ..you will have to defrost the frig manually ..turn it off. open the doors. let it defrost. remove the thick ice on the bottom ..after its defrosted take the bottom an back panel off.. un plug frig first !! drainline is in the back in the middle of the freezer. unclogg it hot water or shop vac be carefull good luck!! drain line should go to a pan under the frig, in the back make sure it drains before putting back together

Frig is leaking water down the back wall, about 1/2 cup in 24 hr

You probably have a clogged defrost drain. When the unit goes into defrost, the melt water is intended to go down a tube from your freezer down to the bottom to a pan. if the path from the freezer gets clogged, the water will seek its own level, and drip into the refrigerator. the short quick temporary fix is to unplug the unit and open both doors, blow fan for 24 hours. You will eventually need to have this serviced by an expert refrigerator repair service, it shouldnt cost more than $150, but if you attempt on your own, you could cause expensive damage, possibly forcing yourself to buy a new refrigerator.

Finding a puddle of water each morning under the left front of frig--does not leak during the day?

YOUR DRAIN IS CLOGED.LOOK AT THE BOTOM BACK PORTION OF YOUR FREEZER. (INSIDE) WHEN YOUR FREEZER GOES INTO DEFROST THE WATER HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE. IF THE DRAIN IS CLOGGED IT WILL FLOW OUT THE FREEZER DOOR.

Kenmore 25.8 side by side with water freezing in the bottom of th

It sounds like the freezer drain is plugged up. When the frig goes into the defrost stage it melts the frost biuldup on the evaporator and the melted frost goes down a drain that is behind the evaopator cover. When this dran is plugged the water has no place to go and over several defrost cyles will actually run into the bottom of the freezer section. When the defrost cycle is over and the frig starts cooling again, the water freezes in the bottom of the freezer.

Frig side is not cooling.

Check if there is frost on the back wall of the freezer, if so it is not defrosting. Many GE fridges need a new defrost heater every couple of years. If it's not defrosting, you can get by for a while by unplugging the fridge and leaving the freezer door open for 24 hrs, then plugging back in.

Magtag french door with water and ice despenser door with auto defrost keeps freezing up.

You have a defrost system problem related to the timing device, heaters, or defrost thermostat. Coils for the freezer are inside the back wall and defrosting the surface does not get ice out of coils.
it will not get any better until you have it serviced. This is not normally a project for a do-it your selfer.

Defrost Problem

there is a drain in the middle of the defrost water collector and it is probably blocked - usually with ice. dry ot the tray and put very hot water in to melt the ice. you may have to do several times. do this until water flows away freely
