Sony handycam DCR HC20E: LCD blank (by 2 users)

hi!
My handycam's LCD appears to be blank since yesterday.
Can you please advise whether anything can be done myself or do I have to take it for repairs.

Exact same problem
sony DCR-HC32E

first, LCD was red, then later blank.

Suggest a new solution for this problem
