We have a Samsung HL-P5063W DLP TV. Lately it will not turn on the first time the remote is pressed, in fact it seems to take longer and longer to come on. Sometimes the timer and the lamp lights blink on and off for a while and then all three lights blink and the standby light comes back on. After pressing the On button on the remote and going through this process a number of times, it will finally come on. The picture looks good. the set is three years old.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Harry
Have a samsung hln617w, supposedly not listed, lamp was burned out so I purchased replacement. Will not turn on. Can hear two efforts and then auto turn off. Have read where others have same problem and tv eventually turns on. New lamp, another problem, not cheap either as I did not have a running spare purchased economically. Could use some help or direction, dont want to purchase additional to see if new purchase was faulty
-   I bought a 43" Samsung DLP 4 years ago and I"m having problems with the tv. Sometimes when I try to turn the tv on it will not come it cycles on and off and finally the lamp light comes on and the temp light comes and stays. Sometimes I keep trying and some times it comes on and sometimes it won't. Is it the problem with the lamp? Anybody has a solution? -   kmysore2
The lamp, ballast or dmd board can cause the same problem. Most commonly on these DLPs it is the lamp, but we have to use the process of elimination as well sometimes. Even as a samsung warranty center sometimes the flow charts don't help. The first thing I would do as a consumer is to vacuum around the ventilation holes behind set, these can cuase poor circulation and startup/shutduwn problems. Then with those type of lights flashing start by bidding for or buying the most inexpensive lamp you can get. Make sure exact replacement. Do not touch the glass on lamp when replacing. Then try the ballast which also has a part number on it and has only two screws when you have lamp removed from set. If still no luck, assume it is the dmd board and try pricing that baby. Not cheap! Then comes the decision. New set or repair this. This is what you can expect unfortunately. But I have the same set at home. Go figure.

The picture has just suddenly scrambled on my Samsung DLP hlp4663wx/xaa TV. I turned it off for a while, even unplugged it, but the problem persists. I removed the cover to the lamp just to look. When I put the cover back on and turned it on again, the picture came back for about 15 seconds then went to scrambled again. Is this an easy fix? Thanks! Bob

This television will turn off by itself after being on for a short period (3 or 4 minutes) I was told that the problem might be the digital board( the board in the center of tv when cover is removed ) but @ $280.00 I thought I should get a 2nd opinion. there are 2 things that might be helpful in the diagnosis 1) After the set is powered up, the fans or color wheel seem to shut off, for a split second, then back on the set works fine 3 to 4 minutes then shuts down. TV cools off for 5 or 10 minutes, I turn set back on and cycle repeats 2) There also is an arching sound that is coming from a component on what seems to be a Hi Voltage board on the right side of tv above the large cooling fan this component also glows sometimes, ( is this normal?) See Component on board.

I own a Samsung 60 inch DLP rear projection TV--Model Number HLN617W. After my wife heard a very strange noise it "died." Knowing all about the lamp issues and having already purchased a spare bulb, I replaced the bulb. Did not work. I spoke with a local TV repair shop, and they determined I NEED A NEW COLOR WHEEL, and while I was at it they recommended I replace the fan for the color wheel. Their parts price seemed high to me---$96 for the color wheel and $63 for the fan----But I was blown away with the labor cost for a home visit to install these items---$250. I am a relatively handy "do-it-yourself" kind of guy. I took the big back panel off the TV. I can see that the color wheel is immediately in front of the lamp that I replaced. It seemed to me that it was at least possible that with a little instrucition, I could replace this myself. Is there a web site---or a "shop manual" or some other source that would help me do this? Do you have any suggestions on how I should go about this? Do you have any suggestions on where I might get the parts at a more reasonable price? Any other thoughts?
