Monitor keeps turning off - Proview PL926WBi 19" LCD Monitor

    Moving the mouse or hitting any keys does not do anything. The power LED stays on as if it were working properly. The screen goes black and if you turn it off and then back on, it stays on for about ten seconds thengoes black again.

    I'm sure it is not in the settings, as I have two of these monitors, both with the same problem and have tried them on several different computers. Unfortunitly, both are just out of warranty and both retail for about three hundred dollars each. Both were working fine and then one first had a problem and a few months later, the second one had the same problem.



    Proview does not answer e-mails and is not willing to help with mmine or any other person in the same situation. By looking at the fixYa pages, there are plenty of people with the same monitor and the same problem.

    I have thought about trying to create a class action suit against them. I wrote them a nasty e-mail the other day and actually got an answer, which is to call there 800 number to discuss the warranties of my two monitors. I will call them on Monday to see how they react. Both of these monitors are less then two years old and very expensive to buy. If they do not make good, I will then look to gather as many people with the same monitor and problem and attempt to start a class action against them. Just sucks that I have to go through this.

    hello -- I have the exact same problem---and no one wants to do anything about it at Proview-----I talked to a "supervisor" named Patricia and she refused to give me to someone higher in the company!---I am completely open to a lawsuit or something to hold them accountable for manufacturing and selling a piece of junk that obviously needs to be recalled---but I guess they are having financial problems and to them, their reputation means nothing!

    when you move your mouse or hit a key on the keyboard, does it come back on again??  When it goes off, does the LED light on the monitor change colors, or go black?

June 12, 2008: Same problem - I've had mine for just over a year. Moving mouse or touching keyboard does nothing. Blue power indicator stays on. If I switch the power off and back on - I can see the screen for about 2 seconds and then it goes black again.

I have the EXACT same monitor with the EXACT same problem, it goes blank after 10 seconds and only switching off and on again brings it back.....just for it to happen all over again!
The monitor is a little over a year old and I'm VERY angry about it.

I will NEVER be buying this brand again.

It is a problem with the monitor. Mine did it just before the warranty was out. I did a exchange with the company and they sent me a new one that had a problem with the screen. It looked like someone had shot it with a bb gun. Some one should take this company to court.

It has to be a prank.What they do is put your screensaver black and put the screensaver to show in 10 seconds.Just get another screensaver and put it for a longer time to show.

My first two ideas are....

1. Power setting/screen saver - this could be build into the monitor or a setting in the power options in the control panel.

2. improper setting for the monitor....this could be the refresh rate most likely.....right-click in a blank area of the desktop, go to properties, settings tab, advanced.....there should be an option in one of the tabs that has an option for refreash rate...make sure it is set to 60.....

If not one of these two things, than it is a faulty monitor......probably not worth getting fixed....hopefully still under warranty??

Volume control stays on screen


hi,
while the system is turned on,
Remove all cables from monitor.
keep pressing the power button.
reseat the cables.
release the power button.
press the power button again to turn on the monitor.

It must work.
else the monitor needs repair.

My monitor keeps giving me a no signal message after i turn on my computer


  1. make sure that the video cable is properly connected between the monitor and computer
  2. change the video cable
  3. do a monitor selftest
  • turn off the monitor
  • disconnect it from the power outlet
  • disconnect it from the computer
  • turn on the monitor without the video cable
if you see the monitor information (a box with RGB white colors, the monitor is working)

  • problem might be the cable, video input port of the monitor or the video output port of the computer

This is a problem with the power supply unit inside the monitor, there is no easy way out here. If you keep on using your monitor like this eventually it won't switch on no matter how long you wait. Keep on using it like this for the time being without switching off anything but ultimately you will have to take it in for repairs or otherwise purchase a new screen..

Monitor not working


These messages appear during if the video cable becomes disconnected or
damaged.(most likely you will need to replace it)
Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the
monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after using the previous procedure, check your video
controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly
