Room temperature has not changed since hooking up new portable a/c

Hi, i just purchased a danby portable air conditioned DPC120068 and have had it operating for almost 3 hours now. when i turned it on, the room ambient temperature was 82 degrees F, i set the temp for 70 degrees F. After all this time the ambient temp has only fluctuated between 80-82 degrees and i dont know why it wont cool down the room. the mode is set on cool, the fan is on high. any suggestions?

Something I discovered with our portable air conditioner DPAC120068.
The temperature that you want can reset to the current temperature so when I turn on the conditioner I always press the down arrow button to see what temp it's at. Especially if it's been off for a while or on some other setting before hand, it's usually set at the current temp so I keep pressing "down" till I get the temp we want.
It's stupid that it should reset like that, but then again, that's danby.
Waiting 3 weeks for a replacement cord (as we accidently left the outside window closed and kept tripping the breaker...oops) and we still haven't got it.....
hope this helps

This may sound dumb but ( 1) Do you have the warm air from the unit to the exterior of the space? If the condenser is in the space your putting the heat your trying to remove right back into the space. ( 2 ) There should be an air supply and an air return in the space only. With that there should be a temperature difference of 16 to 20 degrees between the supply and return. ( 3 )A 1 ton unit usually will cool approximately 400 square feet. ( 4 ) It may take a while to pull the space temp down due to pulling the heat and moisture from the ceiling, walls, and floor. This could take 6 hours or more the first time you use the system in a space.

The portable air conditioning unit turns to air conditioning mode to fan mode and back every 5 to 10 minutes. Is this normal?

Yes, Nicole it is. If the room is cooling down like it should. It actually is saving you money. As the compressor uses more energy than fan.

Hope this helps you.

Hi, two days ago I bought a Danby Premiere DPAC13009 portable AC unit. It worked on the first day reducing the temperature from 32C in the room to 26C in a few hours. Although now there is no cold air...

Comperssors have a thermal overload. If there is a starting problem or low on freon the conpressor will shut down until cooled off. Try restarting and listen to compressor.

Danby ALSO does not cool 3 days old

Take it back where you bought it. A 12,000 BTU unit should be more than enough for a 192 square foot room, so there is some problem with the unit.

Getting the room down to temp....

Danby Consumer help line: 800-263-2629 This is the best I can do for this product line having no information. From my knowledge and experience working with refrigeration and air conditioning there are a few things you should check. Check the voltage being supplied to the unit to insure it is with-in 10% of the name plate specifications. Check the air intake and exhaust hoses for good air flow and that the exhaust is not being recirculated into the intake. I suspect that your problem may be due to the compressor possibly overheating and tripping the internal overload protector. These take time to reset.

Maybe, the compressor isn't starting? I'd take it back to where you purchased it.

Danby dpac7008 portable air conditioner

I want to know how these portable air conditioners are supposed to be set up. Do they have to be on the same as the window out of which the hose goes? If the window is 4.5 feet off the ground, does the air conditioning unit need to be put on a table to make it and the window on the same level?

To the best of my knowledge the unit can stay on the floor and included the product features listed below and it does have a dehumidifier reservoir with direct drain and to make sure if you use the drain hose that the hose is higher than the item that you are draining the water into or you can elevate the unit so that the hose can drain outside and out the window - but you can also drain the water into a bucket or some thing that will hold water. I hope this will help you…..

Danby DPAC10061 portable air conditioner problem

you may have a factory defective unit that is not turning off the anti-frost heating coil (I have assumed yours contains this item based on your problem description). I would trade it in for a new unit, again assuming you have a warranty or the store offers a good in-store return policy. If this plan bombs, then open the unit and find the heating coil near the cool side of the radiator fins. then disconnect the power wires to the heater and prevent electrical short to wires with quality electrical tape.
