a couple of things did you reset the lamp timer? Sometimes if the panel door lamp is open or not closed you will not be able to power up. Have you tried removing the lamp and reseating it? Perhaps the fuse is blown...you will need to remove the cover and look to see. fuse should be located in the area of where you plug the power cord again you will need to remove the power cord.

SOURCE: On my runco vx101c ,
It sounds to me like the new bulb that you've purchased is just as bad as the old one that you took out.
If this was a regular flat screen tv, instead of a projector, then I would say that it was a cpapcitor problem.
But you said that the problem didn't come around UNTIL you replaced the bulb.
I wonder, does the bulb have a special way that it needs to be seated in it's plug?
It could be that it can only go in one direction in order for the contacts to work properly.
Now, it could be that, in removing the old bulb and replacing it, you might have damaged the solder for the socket, preventing the plug from getting a good connection.
Also, sometimes when replacing bulbs, other parts such as resistors can fail.
This can be to voltage instability, electrostatic discharge, power failures, and so on.
I would take the new bulb out, and take it and the old one to Fry's, or to BestBuy.
They both seem to have a rather well stocked supply area for bulbs, it could be that even though your bulbs might LOOK the same, they may be quite different as to the way they are made on the insides.
I hope this helps you out some, and good luck!
