I have a TI 83 Plus and when I turn it on the answer is really faint...I already tried to darken the screen and there numbers are all over the screen...if the number is 3220 the 32 are in the top line and the 2 is on the next line and so forth...I think its dying and I have no idea why, but I did have a TI 86 before this and right before it died I had the same problems where the screen went really faint and it started malfunctioning. Also, when I press the clear button it is unable to clear to chaos all over the screen...there are other characters which are just showing up on various parts of the screen along with only parts of the numbers showing... basically it looks like partial lines which make up the numbers. Any advice about how to fix it would be great...thanks for you help.

I have had my ti 83 plus since fall 2005. recently the calculator has informed me to change the batteries. So i replace the backup battery and the main batteries. now it wont even turn on. Help.

The screen may be too dim to read. Try pressing 2ND->Up arrow key repeatedly while the calculator is turned on and it may darken the screen enough so you can read it.

You can't simply enter 7x+9=30 into the calculator, there is a way to calculate what the x is but its been a few years since I've done these..

My son's TI-83 calculator screen is very dark. The calculator appears to be working but I can barely read the screen. Any suggestions?

Try adjusting the screen contrast. Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2ND key, then press and hold the down-arrow key to darken the text. If you go too far, use the 2ND and up-arrow keys to lighten the text.

The words and numbers that show up on the screen are really hard to make out. They are really light and barely noticable.

Adjust the screen contrast. Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2ND key, then press and hold the up-arrow key for a couple of seconds to darken the screen. If you go too far, repeat the process using the 2ND and down-arrow keys.

My TI 83 Plus does not turn on. I have replaced the batteries and the backup battery. I have tried all the troubleshooting solutions given but still it does not turn on. What can I do now?

The screen may be too dim to read. Sometimes when the batteries are low, the screen automatically dims itself. The problem is, it doesn't undo that when the batteries are replaced. Try pressing 2ND->Up arrow key repeatedly while the calculator is turned on and the screen should start to darken so that you can read it.

My calculator started malfuctioning and it would only show little lines instead of numbers so i took the batteries out tried new ones but it wont even turn on now

After you replace batteries, the screen contrast may become too light or to dark. In your case, I suspect it lightened too much.

To darken screen

Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and HOLD the [UpArrow]
Keep pressing the Arrow key until screen darkens to your liking.

If that does not solve your problem search this website: I have answered countless number of questions on the same subject.

My ti-83 calcultor is totaly bleck screen

Could be that the contrast is turned up. Try turning the calculator on and then pressing the 2nd key and hold down the down arrow. This should lighten the screen if there is a contrast problem. You can darken the screen, sam procedure, just use the up arrow. Hope this helps.
