Change plug an won't start

Make sure you have the correct spark plug for your maching. and Make sure the gap is correct on the spark plug. Look in your owners manual for the correct gap. Check inside the spark plug wire end that connects to the spark plug and make sure the metal part is still in there to make the connection to the spark plug.

Will not start have checked fuel lines ok,cleaned spark plug ok,checked wires all checked ok,saw eas running fine shut off to change chain and refuel and would not start after

Just check that it has not picked up on the piston, remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston through the exhaust port, any sign of scuffing and the saw will need to come apart for further investigation.

Chain saw won't start

Before you try to start it, push the primer bubble on the side 3 or 4 times, then pull the choke all the way out. On poulans they can be tricky. When pulling the choke button out, make sure it does not go back in. After you pull the crank rope and you hear it "hit" push the choke back in and pull the crank rope again. It should start after that. If it still won't start, check for a faulty spark plug.

I have a poulan pp4218avhd chain saw that won't sart. I have cleaned the spark arrestor & the air filter. I have replaced the spark plug with a correct gap and checked that it is getting a spark. I...

I have this saw and really like it. Does the the primer seem to work? Most problems on these saws can be traced back to cracked fuel lines. Either tank to primer, primer to carb, or carb return back to tank. I would recommend it the saw it more than 3 years old to replace all the fuel lines. Total cost about $5. Buy your fuel line at Ace Hardware.

What is the gap setting on a poulan pp4218av chain saw between the coil and magneto

You need something non-magnetic. Place a business or index card between the fly wheel and coil, rotate until the magnetic attraction pulls everything tight together. Tighten the coil screws, rotate the flywheel until the attraction eases and remove the card. Ensure nothing contacts when flywheel is rotated.
Card stock is usually 0.0085 - 0.0095"
If you still have no spark after assembly please reply below and I will happily assist you. HTH

Spark plug gap

hi kathy. this is an easy one. first of all you will need a spark plug gapping tool, about a dollar at any auto parts store. Your chain saw most likely calls for PLUG TYPE: Champion CJ6 SPARK PLUG GAP: 0.025 in. (0.63 mm).

Here is the website of a short video to show you exactly how to gap the spark plug. write back if you need any more info.
