Loud rumbling noise when spinning not the normal high pitched sound. Possibly could it be the bearings?

Yes it is very likely the rear drum bearing. unfortunately the rear bearing is not sold separately it comes with the rear tub half. this is both an extensive and expensive repair .Unless you have some kind of extended warranty you might want to use it as long as possible the replace the whole thing

What causes our front loading washer to make exceeding loud noise when it enters a spin?

Sounds like a bearing seal is going. The seal has ruptured and grease of seeping out. The loud noise is the bearings rubbing against each other without adequate grease to reduce the friction. Failure will come soon if it is not fixed. The vibration is coming from the friction and possibly damaged ball bearings .

My maytag model no.mav4755aww makes a whinning sound at the beginning of the spin cycle

Hi
Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.Since you hear whining it means that the bearing is damaged and the seals on bearing are gone too so it rotates without lubricant. It might be possible to hear whining while you rotate empty drum manually...
Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.
Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing. Then replacing the bearing is suggested.
Let us know if you want something more else accept the solution.

Hi,

Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings. Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.) Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub. Clear the water pump from obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water. Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers. Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.

Loud noise when it spins

Sounds like main drum bearing noise, try turning the drum by hand, if it feels rough or you can hear it grinding or rumbling, then it is the the main bearings that have failed..
You will probably need to call an engineer.

Whirlpool awm8121 - spin cycle high pitch sound/scretch

Front loaders are great for savings on water and electricity. Most of these machines only use about 5 to 7 gallons (US) of water and spin with a velocity anywhere between 1300 to 1800 rpms. This also saves on dry times because your clothes are virtually spun dry. Why am I telling you all this? People buy them with good intentions, but the common complaint I hear is that they are noisy. It is this spin velocity that contributes to that noise. You need to make sure that the foundation under the washer is stable. If your washer is located in a mobile home, upstairs laundry room, home with a crawl space, etc., sometimes these floors have a tendency to flex as the washer spins. If the floor flexes (even a little) the washer will vibrate and make noise. An easy fix to help redistribute to weight of the washer is to place a sheet of thick (at least 3/4" in the US) plywood under the washer to help reinforce the floor. This must be screwed down or affixed in such a way that it does not move. This will take care of any vibrating issues. Now, if your problem is strictly with noise from the machine, some of that is normal I'm afraid to say. However, if it sounds REALLY loud (like a rumble) this is a symptom of a rear bearing that is going bad. If that is the case, the entire back shell of the wash tub has to be replaced in order to replace the bearing as they are molded into the plastic. This can be an expensive repair job if you decide to pursue this option. Let me know if any of this helps. Kinda hard for me to diagnose without being there to hear it.
