Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Tz10 lens cover sticking

My TZ10 problem was the opposite, the cover wouldn't open. I just resorted to surgery with needle-nose pliers and a carefully wielded Stanley knife, and removed the cover completely without opening up the camera or the lens assembly. No big deal not having a lens cover, the thing lives in a leather case and it doesn't take a moment to wipe the lens with a tissue if it gets dusty. The camera is 4 years old anyway. Solved by 'amputation'.

On my Nikon FE, the Depth of field lever sticks. any Ideas or solutions?

Remove the lens and see if it's the lens or the lever that is sticking. My bet it's the lens needing service. If the DOF lever is still sticky then I'd suggest having them both serviced.

Piece of dirt in the lens!

Gently tap the lens with a stick and see if the dirt will fall to the side. It may of course migrate back, but as long as it doesn't stick to the lens, it will be out of the way for most pictures when the aperture closes. If it is stuck to the lens, have it professionally cleaned, OR take consulation in the fact that closer dirt is to the "optical center" of a lens, the less effect it has on normal pictures- pictures of bright objects are different though

Sticking aperture

Yes. A good camera technician can partially disassemble the lens and then thoroughly clean the blades and the rest of the aperture diaphragm mechanism. This is commonly referred to as an internal CLA (cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment). This is a very nice macro lens and it is worth repairing if it otherwise is in exceptionally nice condition.

Fuji digital camera A370 lens sticking

It seems the life of digital cameras are 2-3 years. The camera has lens gear problem. The lens assy fails most on digital cameras with moving lens. The plastic gears in the lens assy. are quite fragile in design and when used regularly, gears tends to wear down and eventually damages the lens movement. Many time a small impact or stress on lens when extended do the same damage. The parts are sold as a lens assy and repair cost may run around $100.
