Question about Passport 8500 Radar Detector

1 Answer

The Easy Mount button recessed itself into the unit. Took unit apart but see why this happened but the part doesn't stay fixed when reassembled. Also two tiny washers fell out when I opened up the unit and I can"t see where they go.

I just had this same problem. It's an easy fix. The "washers" that fell out aren't washers, they're the reason that the button fell into the unit. They are plastic "rivet heads" from the way the frame of the button is melted onto the cover. You can throw them away. I used super glue to re-attach the button to the cover.

I took apart my Dremel 395 Type 3 and the spring popped out for the shaft lock. Where does the spring attach to?

It doesn't attach anywhere, that's why it popped out. It should just fit in a recess, pushing the lock button outward.

Embedded light sensor stays red all the time

The back cover is called the a micro/dust assembly. See #21 here:
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/hoover-u6630900-windtunnel-selfpropelled-bagless-vacuum-parts-c-37315_37337_37584.html

The little sensor should be in the round recess in the top of that assembly. When you are putting the cover back on you have to use a pair of needle nose pliers to push the sensor into the round recess until it is snug. It is hard to do because the wires to the sensor are very short and you have to be careful not to break the wires on the sensor. The sensor is a little microphone that senses the noise of the dirt going through the EDF. The first time I did mine I didn't push it in hard enough and came out of the EDF recess and fell inside the vacuum body.

How to put together the CST2000 and install a battery

Which part of the Grass Hog did you take apart? If you mean the spool head, that is easy to reassemble. The actual spool (the round part with the line coming out) goes into the cavity on the bottom of the trimmer, with the line poking out of the hole in the side several inches (not enough to hit the plastic guard). Then the cover (orange with the spring on it) fits on top of the spool so that the spring pushes on the spool and the two tabs on the side snap into the holes in the trimmer.

Unless you took another part off, that should be all you need to do to reassemble the Grass Hog. Turn it right-side up and turn it on to make sure everything works.

Palm TX - on/off button stays depressed; probably need to dismountle the unit - how to?

I hate to refer you somewhere else but YouTube has some great step by step "how to's"
I have a Palm TX and have taken it apart several times to replace broken screens or damaged digitizers. Let me give you a word of caution. Take your time......
This can make the difference between a good 30 minute job or a bad 20 minute job.
Since the button stays depressed it should be an easy fix. You'll have a couple screws on the back (none are under the TX label) and then you'll need a soft pry tool to pop the back panel off. That should expose the power button. In cases like these one of two things usually happen:
1. Excessive grime from fingers stick the button in the down position. Clean it off with a Q-tip and you're good to go.
2. The button has been struck so hard that the switch has been broken from its mount, in which case, you'll have to replace the switch if it can't simply be bent back into place.
Either way good luck! It's not too difficult if you are handy at these kinds of things but again...don't get in a hurry! I speak from experience! :-P

Electrolux z4494 vacuum cleaner mains cable wont stay out

Opened up case as follows:
- Open lid of bag chamber. Remove lid by gentry prising the hinge arms slightly further apart so the hing unclips from the body.
2 deeply recessed screws now accessible at rear edge of bag chamber - undo.
Prise out large button of on/off switch to reveal another screw - undo
Prise out large button of cable retract to reveal another screw - undo.
Cover now lifts off.

Inside I found the brake wheel had fallen out of its plastic bracket. The plastic bracket is hinged, and moved my pressing one end with the big button, which lifts the wheel away from the cable drum. Gently prised the bracket arms apart and put the brake wheel back in.
Solved it - but don't know why it happened, or whether it is likely to happen again.

How do I reassemble On/Off switch?

The actual switch will not fall apart. There is a black part that is integral with the switch itself. This is about 1/4" to 3/8" wide, and can only be seen from inside the unit. Then there is a plastic piece that is part of the top shell. The hole in the plastic piece has to fit over the black part of the switch, so when the plastic piece is moved, the switch on the inside of the unit will move with it. SO, center both parts, and put them together. If you actually took the switch itself apart, you would have needed a soldering iron, and there would be no purpose for doing this.
