Question about HP Pavilion a810n (PP164AA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have an HP a810n desktop. First let me say that I did a backup of my system back in 2/10. Up until a few days ago it ways sort of o.k. Now when I try to turn it on it comes up with an error, "inaccessible boot device 0x0000007B" In the begining of the message it says that Windows has shut down because of this error. So before I do a system restore I want to make sure I back up my music and photos. Back in 2005 I added and secondary hard drive because the original one was full. How can I copy my data files before doing a system restore with out windows? basically I want to copy my files from the Bios

Hi There,.

I recommend you work your way through this guide before attempting file transfer.

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/stop0x0000007b.htm

The best way to recover the data you want is to remove the drive, install it in an external enclosure and read the file from another computer, saving them to flash drive or another external storage drive.

Regards,

Marcus

HP provided recovery disks. If you don't have them, you can get them from this site.

Try to F8 it into safe mode and check the device manager for conflicts. It is probably a device driver issue. It is a matter of finding the problematic device and then working toward a solution.

The specs for your system's motherboard say it has an 8X AGP slot. Here's a page at Newegg.com (just as an example...I do lots of business with them, but you can search for other suppliers) that lists all the cards they sell with resolutions up to 2048X1536. Once you have a list of models and chipsets, you can compare and pick whichever best suits your needs.

A810n video card upgrade

make sure that your system is on hardware compatibilty list ( enough Ram, acceptible OS, etc.) I would suspect the video card as a problem farther down the list. It will likely function to some extent with any card but possibly require and upgraded card for adequate performance

HP a810n will not boot up

On most HP's and Compaq's you can restore the machine by pressing F11 when you see the HP/Compaq screen when you first turn the machine on.
There is a hidden recovery partition on your harddrive and your machine will be restored to the condition it was in when you bought it, the only problem with that is it will delete any personal files you have on the machine like photo's and music.
If you want I can talk you through recovering your personal files before attempting the restore, it will involve removing your harddrive from your computer and linking it to another computer.

Installing new video card with DVI input

yes your computer will accept this video card. i have the same computer as a backup. in fact, if you had the money to do so you could upgrade this to a far better video card without worrying about the power supply.
