Question about Kenmore 3.8 cu. ft. HE3 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

While finishing a load of laundry, during the final spin/rinse cycle the washer made an aweful pounding and banging noise. It was so loud I heard it from the other side of the house and went running to see what it was. I had top stop the cycle cause the noise was so bad I was afraid something was going to break inside the machine. The washer did not move from it's original location, but the noise was as if it had shuffled sideways on the floor, moved up agianst the wall and was banging against it. I pulled the damp laundry out of the tub and that's when I noticed how "sloppy" the drum was. So I stuck my hand inside (after removing the damp laundry) and now the washer drum moves freely inside it's cavity. I can literaly move the washing drum in and out (front to back), up and down, clockwise and counterclockwise...it feels like it came off track or something. Any ideas what it could be? Thankyou

Yes I do know unfortunely the basket support broke. This support is mounted on to the back of the basket and goes through the rear bearing and the back half of the outer tub. This is a very extensive repair .the unit has to be totally disassembled ,if it only broke the support it is about 100.00 , but if the rear tub bearing is also damaged you may consider replacing the unit with a new one either way this is an expensive and extensive repair...

I am also having the same problem. Is this a reoccurring problem with this unit?

Washer making loud noise and wont spin

Check and see if the inner drum is loose and floppy.if it is, it's likely the bearings have collapsed, and require replacement...If the drum feels stiff and tight, it could be that something is jammed between the inner and outer drums. Both situations could be costly...Get quotes....Good luck...Nomess

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Loud bang during spin

Unplug it and plug it back in after a min. Try to put it threw a rinse spin cycle. Delicate option has a shorter rinse spin time.

See if it suds up, when you hear it trying to drain lift up the drain hose to the wall. It is the gray tube that has the elbow bend, might (should) be hooked to wall. If it isn't moving a good amount of water the machine isn't draining.

Boom and Bang Washing Machine

Bed sheets or comforters will often get out of balance in the spin cycle or during the rinse cycle. Throw some towels in there next time at least 5 big ones. They are engineered to take a little of this banging, it should only happen once in a while.
