Your memory card has a sliding switch along one edge. It is unlocked when it is nearest to the electrical contacts and locked when it is furthest from them. If it is locked then just slide it firmly to the unlocked position. If it appears to be in the unlocked position then slide it fully to the locked position and then fully back to the unlocked position.

If this does not work then try another memory card.

Hi

Thank you for using Fixya!

Check your memory card for a slider or a switch on the sides of it. Usually you can protect your files on the memory card by locking the card.

Hope this help

How do I transfer photo's from my PC to the memory card in my Panasonic DMC-TZ8

The photo processing shop most likely will have trouble downloading the photos from your camera/memory card.
I suggest you purchase an USB memory stick and copy the photos to this USB memory stick and then take the USB memory stick to the photo processing shop.

My Panasonic Lumix FS10 wont take any pictures, (the memory card is write protected) is displayed on the screen?

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

What does "This memory card is write-protected

On the SD card itself is a write protect switch - it's on the side. Check the switch to see if it's in the protect position.

I have a Nikon coolpix. The memory card is PNY optima SD 2GB. I get a message saying Memory card is write protected. I have no idea how this happened or how to get rid of it.

SD cards have a sliding switch along one edge. Slide it toward the contacts to enable write, away from the contacts to protect.

If this doesn't do it, then there may be something wrong with the switch mechanism in the camera.

Also, make sure the contacts are clean.

How do I turn off the protect feature for the memory card on a Panasonic DMC LC40 digital camera?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

The memory card has a small slide lock on it. It may have been inadvertantly locked. Just slide the lock to the other position and try card again.
