A straight forward procedure that can get around all triage would be to reset your phone to factory settings. This can be done in several ways, first by going through settings, second by using a hardware button combo and third by dialling a code into the keypad.
Once this is done it would be most useful to update the 'firmware', which is in effect a 'base'.

This will need to be installed to a computer. Now plug your mobile into the computer and navigate to the firmware update screen. The PC Suite should automatically find you the latest one and then guide you through it too.
If confused, that website should provide enough information upgrade in the FAQ or the forum.
Finally you could download applications that automatically defend the mobiles RAM uptake. In other words, it will make sure too many applications arent running in the background and hence your mobile shouldn't slow down.
