Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Lighting hit the printer but I think it is all in the "power box" / "ac adapter". I am not sure what the correct term is. Can I purchase just this part to fix the printer? If so what is it officially called and where is the best place to purchase? Thanks.

What an easy fix! I hadn't used my printer for several months and kept looking for a replacement. I hated to get rid of this printer because it had worked so well. I had thought that lighting had caused it to stop working. I bought a new wireless printer and thought I would try my Canon one more time since I had left it unplugged for awhile. I plugged it in and pressed the button to turn it on and what do you know...yep, IT WORKS AGAIN! Thanks for the easy fix!

How many watts power adapter I need it ??

Best to look on ebay using your laptop model and add the terms genuine / original. Using cheap chargers may damage your laptop.

Higher wattage will charge your battery quicker.

The printer is plugged in but does not turn on. The green light on the AC adaptor is on. I have tried a friend's AC adaptor and it did not work either.

I think it would be wrong to suspect a problem with the adapter wire if the same problem occurs with two adapters. Do both adapters work with your friends printer? If so one would suspect that the plug port on your printer is defective.

This is the advice from the manual:

Power button is not lit

1 Disconnect the power supply cord from the wall outlet, and then from the printer.

2 Plug the cord all the way into the power supply port on the printer. make sure it is well seated

3 Plug the cord into an electrical outlet that other electrical devices have been using.

4 If the Power button light is not on, press Power.

If this does not correct the problem and it is a new purchase I would consider returning it to the vendor. Otherwise you may need to have a technician Tto investigate and confirn that power is reaching the printerre and the problem lis elesewhere with a switch or posisbly you need to replace the power connector port on the printer.

Hi I have a acer aspire 1694WLMi laptop which doesn't charge fully. Also when the ac adapter is connected the screen keeps flashing between battery mode and ac mode.

The source of the problem obviously is either the AC power cord or the battery, or it could be a combination of the two. In terms of the symptoms you describe, it could be a faulty AC cord. This could involve a few possiblities: loose connection between the AC plug and the AC adapter unit, a loose connection between the mini plug (the part that goes into your laptop) and the AC adapter unit, or the AC unit itself could be going bad.

Not sure how intermittent the flashing between battery and ac mode is. If you're talking very frequent such as once every minute or so, I would be suspicious of either the plug (both AC and input to laptop sides) or the connections between the AC adapter portion and the plug. Not sure how long you've had the laptop and cord, but it is possible that the cord has somehow worn out. This wearing out can be accelerated if you often use the AC cord and there is tension on it.

One finally suggestion of course is to either try a new cord. You can often find them on e-bay and can even purchase used ones for a cheap price. If you do, you will then obviously be able to confirm that the cord was the problem. One might think or say the battery is not charging fully and is the problem. True, the battery may be a problem, but the root cause may be the cord.

Good luck!

When lighting hit and the wii go out what do i do to make it come on

Usually, after a power outage, a power spike (when the power returns) can disable/blow the fuse in the AC adapter for the Wii.

Try the following steps in this order:

FIRST:
- unplug the Wii's power cord from the wall, and leave it unplugged (from 5 mins. to 5 hours). Then, plug it back into the wall. (Unplugging the power cord from the back of the Wii will not help. You need to unplug the power cord from the wall.)
- This usually helps reset the fuse circuit in the AC adapter, and your Wii should work again.

SECOND:
- open the panel on the AC adapter box in the power cord; since the screws are proprietary, you will need to creatively use existing tools to turn the screws
- check the 3A fuse in that box; if it looks blown, then replace it

THIRD:
- it might be cheaper to replace the AC adapter with another one

FOURTH:
- get the unit repaired

MUST DO:
- buy a good SURGE PROTECTOR power bar, and plug all of your expensive items into it (to prevent this from happening again).

Hope that helps!

My laptop HP Pavillion ZV6000, battery started decreasing and wouldn't charge when the ac adapter was connected. I purchased another ac adapter thinking that was my problem. It didn't work. Now I have...

As others have said, the most common fault with the ZV series is the power socket. However, you mentioned the Lightning Bolt. This indicates that the battery is being charged and it should go out as soon as the battery is fully charged.

If the Lightning Bolt flashes on and off regularly, especially when the power cable is moved, then the socket is at fault and needs replacing.

You can check to see if the battery is receiving a charge by doing the following

1. Right Click the Desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click the Screen Saver tab
4. Click the Power button
5. Click the Power Meter tab

This will tell you the computer's current power source and whether the battery is charging.

I have replaced several of these sockets on ZV5000s and I'm sure the 6000 will be similar. I would not recommend this job for anyone without technical knowledge, despite some of the websites that say you can do it yourself. You will need to strip the entire laptop down and all but remove the motherboard before the socket can be replaced.

Hope this helps

Battery problems

It should fix the problem, did you make sure you got the right battery(correct model number etc? like a genuine OEM battery).

If that doesnt fix it, go into your control panel, power settings, and select the battery option.. and check how your laptop uses the battery when its not plugged into AC power.

If that doesnt fix it, then contact HP, if its still under warrenty, it might be the AC terminal thats going bad, and might need the computer serviced. BTW how old is the computer?

NO POWER -lexmark X83

Then you must assume that:

1. Either the AC adapter is faulty
or
2. There is no power from the socket you the device is connected to
or
3. AC adapter is not connected properly to the power socket and the printer
or
4. The 'transformer' inside the printer has blown

Scenarios 1, 2 and 3 are easy. Scenario 4 requires either you return the printer to Lexmark and they repair it, or you purchase another printer. If it's still under warranty, contact them. If it's not, think about getting a replacement from another manufacturer.
