Question about Philips Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

The player has worked just fine for several years but yesterday I tried to play a dvd & the progress bar went to 2 bars, a small solid square appeared on the lower left hand corner & the verbiage 'no disc' appeared in the upper right hand corner. I tried several discs I know worked in the past and still have the problem. I thought maybe dust on the head & blew into the opening - no good. Any ideas. - Thank you Lea

It still could be dust / a dirty lens, the only other option would be a failed laser / lens itself... The best thing for you to try would be a true cd / dvd lens cleaner. Here is an example of one I know works well:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008EM7U?ie=UTF8&tag=dependascient-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00008EM7U

If that does not work you are unfortunately going to need to replace the DVD player... so you may want to just save the money instead of buying the lens cleaner, and just opting for a new unit. However it is nice to have one of these lens cleaners laying around to use on all your devices.

Thanks
Tim

Hello, Every time I run some video on youtube by using IE 8 I've got filled cache progress bar (red line on the bottom of the player) but video is not dowloaded in real as I see "wait" picture...

1) Try to download and install the latest Flash Player (version 10.2) from:http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. And then of course restart your browser.
2) If it still doesn't work, try different browsers: latest Firefox, Chrome, Safari.

After working just fine for months, yesterday the battery went down faster than normal.I plugged it in to charge it overnight and by morning there was progress on the charge bar

there was or was not progress on the charge bar.

if there was then you probably just used it a whole lot that day or had wifi turned on, bluetooth turned on, and brightness up. those are battery drianers.

if there was not progress then you need a new battery, search craigslist for it and there will be people willing to fix that for you for around $40

How to unfreeze mp3 player

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
you can also try restoreing it

Restore
  • Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your itunes Library.
How to restore your iPod:
For Windows:
  • 1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of itunes.
  • 2. Open itunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
  • 3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in itunes.
  • 4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main itunes windows.
  • 5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt itunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
    • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
  • 6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, itunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
  • 7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
  • 8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the itunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

Try using a DVD player with Progressive Scan, it might work fine. I don't know what the problem can be but that's the only way I can see anything.

DVD/VCR stuck in Progressive scan mode

With NO DISK in the DVD player PRESS PLAY, (display will say "no disk" or something similar) then PRESS STOP AND HOLD FOR 5-10 SECS. Our DVD was stuck on Progressive Scan Mode for over 1 year, this fixed it. I had tried the press stop, press stop and hold while playing a movie, but not while there was no disk. Try it & Good Luck!!!!!!!!
