Defective gears of your printer is non user-serviceable. Go to your nearest service shop.
Good Luck.

"Defective gears"? Go to your nearest service shop?? Maybe. But probably not. Check for a paper jam first. That's all that was wrong with mine when I got this error. NOTE: There doesn't seem to be any way to clear the error indication except by unplugging the printer.

How to clear print unable 36 in brother mfc 7470 and paper jum insade

Brother's idea of Error 36 is a paper jam; hardly surprising since paper handling is not Brother's strong point and with any factory, "paper jam" might also mean faulty sensor.

In all seriousness it might take a torch and a magnifying glass, but first make sure there really is no tiniest scrap of anything in the paper path... "tiniest scrap of anything" here means as little as, say, 1mm sq. A few specs of dust can make a roller slippery.

Clearing scraps or dust might need a vacuum cleaner, and that might need to be set to blow.

Simple age and wear can make a roller shiny and so, slippery.

To fix a shiny roller, rub it down with a coarse nail file which yes, will often involve stripping the machine, at least partly.

Consider also, how much would a new 7470 cost, and take into account that such a thing would come with new ink

Multi-Function Center MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer: i get the message "print unable 36" displayed on m...

Error code 36 is generally because of a paper jam that was not cleared. Remove the rear jam cover (the plastic cover in the back center of the machine)and the paper tray and check for any pieces of paper. Sometimes just a scrap will remain, but it's enough to cause the machine to not work.

Once you've replaced the covers, if the jam code does not reset, turn the machine off and then back on.

Xerox 8560 died after installing new maintenance kit.

The error is caused by the printhead not being able to tilt, the maintenance kit (oil roller) is driven round by the drum and has no physical connection to the tilt mechanism. Having said that I did once have a machine that had waste wax loose in the machine and when the customer replaced the maintenance kit the loose wax was pushed into the tilt drive gears which are located on the inside frame left hand side, right behind the oil roller. The wax jams the gears making a noise like a machine gun and tilt error 07,010 was the result.

Wont work at all just says unable to print 36

"Machine Error 36" and "Unable to Print" are error messages indicating something physically making it impossible for the machine to work. Hopefully, you could find a stuck paper or parts of stuck paper by opening the different covers (front, back, paper trays etc), the problem should then be solved by removing the paper and rebooting your machine.
However, if this does not work or you're unable to find the stuck paper, you will need to have service on this unit, to open up the machine.

I have a machine error 36 of brother dcp-115c help me

Machine error 36
**Head/carriage unit travel error***

Try to find any obstacles on the travel path of the head/carriage unit. If you cannot find, next steps are:

- Replace the carriage PCB.
- Replace the head/carriage unit.
- Replace the CR encoder strip.
- Replace the carriage motor.
- Replace the main PCB.
- Replace the power supply PCB.
- Replace the maintenance unit.

Tried solution for printer unable to initiate

This is related to the paper feed roller:

Check encoder disc if it is stained with ink or broken (its the round foil disc which is fixed on one of the three white big gear wheels on the left hand side). It should turn around without any scratching sound!

Check if another gear wheel is broken (right hand side behind the purge /parking station). Here you will find the gear box which is shifted by print head (little white plastic coming out of the metal plate between purge station and absorber box)

Pull out the paper tray and try to turn the paper feed roller by hand. You can reach it when seeing from bottom without the tray.
