Projector starts, goes into search mode with a laptop plugged into it, but does not connect with the laptop.

Try looking at your screen resolution settings on your laptop. For Windows right click on the desktop screen then click screen resolution, or display settings and see if the projector is recognized on your laptop. If yes try changing the resolution as the laptop may be trying to connect at a resolution that isn't supported by the projector.

How to make the picture from laptop to projector the right size.

I would suggest it's probably a screen resolution an older laptop VGA output was probably 800x600. The projector will also have a recommended and maximum resolution. The newer laptop will have a much higher resolution. You will need to adjust the laptop's video resolution to the optimum projector resolution

Lenovo laptop screen resolution

Which resolution are you trying to set?
You should be able to set the maximum for the laptop: 1280 x 800.
If you cannot set this resolution, then make sure that you are using the Lenovo drivers, and not something Windows update installed.

How to make my gateway laptop screen full size again

As per my thinking you must be talking about the Resolution of the Screen. It is your screen resolution i guess. Right Click on your Desktop:

a) If on windows 7 then select Screen Resolution and then turn it up.

b) If on Windows XP then Select Properties and then go to Screen Resolution from there.

Laptops generally have a Screen Resolution of 1280 x 800 or above. So set it as per your requirement.

The laptop will automatically save the adjustments after you release the "Fn" key.

Screen Resolution

Click the "Start" menu. Click "Settings" and "Control Panel."

Choose "Display" and "Settings" in Windows 98, ME or XP. In Windows Vista, click "Appearance" and "Adjust Screen Resolution."

Click on the resolution bar and slide it to the right to lower the screen's resolution and to the left to raise the screen's resolution.

The optimum screen resolution usually depends on the size of the laptop screen.

The recommended resolution for a 15-inch screen is 1024 x 768, 17- to 19-inch screen is 1280 x 1024, and 20-inch screens is 1600 x 1200.

However, you can adjust the resolution to your personal preference.

Click ""Apply to see how the resolution looks on the laptop's monitor.

Click "OK" to save the resolution settings.

Color Setting

Click the "Start" menu. Click "Settings" and "Control Panel."

Choose "Display" and "Settings" in Windows 98, ME or XP.

In Windows Vista, click "Appearance" and "Adjust Screen Resolution."

Click "Colors." Choose 32-bit for a high color-pixel ratio that will make the colors brighter and bring out image details.

Choose 24-bit for a medium color-pixel ratio if the screen is too bright or if images are somewhat distorted.

Some older laptops have a 16-bit color setting, but this setting is no longer recommended as it will distort images and text.

Always Click "Apply" to see how the color setting looks on the laptop's monitor.

Click "OK" to save the color settings

hope this helps

Have male vga w/audio cord. computer says it doesnt support the setting is this true.

What resolution is your laptop using, e.g., 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280*1024, 1400*1050 ?

What manufacturer/model-number of VGA display?
What resolution(s) does it support?

Choose a lower resolution on your laptop, to see if the VGA display can handle that resolution.

I am tring to connect my dell laptop wit intel 935 to my LG tv. I keep getting "invalid forma" message on tv. no images. Any suggestions?

You need to change the resolution on the laptop for the TV.
  1. Right click on your Laptop's desktop screen, and select Display properties, or Properties (depending on what O/S you are running)
  2. Select the Settings tab if you are in XP, or select Screen Resolution if you are in Vista or 7.
  3. You should now see the settings for setting the Display resolution for your Native Monitor and your LG TV (the TV must be plugged in to your laptop in order to see it in the Display resolution settings)
  4. Set your resolution to a lower resolution, e.x. 800x600, 1024x768, etc.

Hi, I cannot get my syncmaster to show the whole screen of my laptop

What is the current screen-resolution of your laptop, e.g., 1280-by-1024?
What is the maximum resolution of your LCD screen?
If it is "less" than the laptop's resolution,
part of the picture will be "off-screen".
Reduce the screen-resolution of your laptop to match the maximum resolution of the LCD.

Changing Screem Res to 1024x720

Hi LSmitten,

So your brother has laptop, and you can't change the screen resolution, I will take a guess that most likely the screen resolution right now is 800x600 or 640x480 which most games won't work with. The most likely culprit why you are not able to adjust the video resolution is that he hasn't installed the video driver of the laptop yet. You should install the video card driver for your laptop in other for you to change the resolution of your desktop. I suggest that you download the latest video driver from the computer manufacturer's website.

Also if he is using a older laptop, the LCD screen on a laptop has a set maximum resolution that you can use only. Older model laptops can only go as high as 800x600 upto 1024x768. Most of the new laptop nowadays have a minimum LCD panel of 1280x800 widescreen. Check the PC manual to see the max resolution the LCD can handle.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)
