Question about Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

1 Answer

When I connect my camera to my computer, I hook it up using an USB cable. This links the camera to the computer. But when I ask the computer to download the pictures, it says "camera in use please try again later". But the camere is not in use the screen just reads "USB". And I have to turn the camera on to get the computer to realize its there.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

The HDMI cable is for connecting the camera to an HD TV. If you want to connect the camera to a computer, use the USB cable.

What cable do i need to conect to a computer

Hi,

For most cameras you may use a USB cable to connect the camera to the computer.

Once done, the camera will show up as a drive on the "My Computer" window.

Hi im trying to transfer 8mm tapes to my computer?i have down loaded new software but when i hook up computer says it cant locate i,link cable?i have hooked up provided usb cable but it wont reconize it?

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (Sony call this i.Link) connection. Some mini-DV and D8 cameras only use the USB connection (if they have one) for stills and can ONLY download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file. The DCR-TRV265E definately has to use Firewire.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading video to computer at THIS LINK You will need to select Windows as the operating system, then Digital8 as the camera type, then select the type of connection. As you will see, the USB option warns that it won't work with many cameras, and you are strongly recommended to use i.Link (which everyone else calls Firewire).

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT will not connect to computer.

Please discard that the USB port or the USB cable are defective. You can do it if you try to hook your camera in other personal computer using the same USB cable. If it works, then follow the next instructions.

Connect your camera to the PC thru the USB cable and turn it on.

If you are using Windows, go to the Control panel - System - Hardware - Devices - and check if there is any device that was not recognized by Windows. Such devices are marked with a yellow question mark.

If so, get into the device item and with right mouse click, select to update the device driver.

If there was not unrecognized device, then you can unistall your USB port driver and then run a change hardware status to recognize the USB port again, then run the update driver routine.

When I hook up my Little Shots Camera it says can not connect to device

Uninstall all old pc cam, mars software and do a fresh installation. Restart computer. Before plugging in usb cable, push the shutter button down and hold it.Shutter is the button that takes the pictures. Now plug in usb cable. Camera should say pc cam and installation of software should start and complete. If asked about newer reference files answer yes. Software should now be installed. To use as pc cam,Dbl Click pc cam, mars icon on the desktop.New screen will appear.click on right facing triangle and another screen will open. Camera will now show on monitor what it is aimed at.To shut off, close all screens, and click on icon tray and shut usb device if necessary. To use as camera and view pictures, connect usb cable without pushing any buttons, and camera will say usb,Dbl click my computer, dbl click removable disk D,E F whichever it has been assigned, dbl click DCIM folder, and there are your pics to do waht you want with, save, print etc.Do not delete pics using the computer, delete only by camera so you do not damage files necessary to store and take pictures. If you do camera may have to be reformatted.Disconnect from pc same way by clicking usb icon in tray and stopping device, then its safe to unplug cable.

My DMC-f27 suddenly quit being recognized by computer

Hi,

First, make sure both ends of the USB cable are firmly connected to the computer and camera.
If no screen pops up asking to select PICTBRIDGE or PC, then there might be a problem with the cable.

I would suggest getting a card reader instead to download pictures. They are many times faster than USB cable, and they aren't too expensive. ($10.00-$70.00).

I recommend this card reader.

Video to Computer

As far as i can tell, your Nvidia is only capable of outputting video, if you wish to input video from your camcorder you will need a video capture card. the cable will then depend on the configuration of the card, but may well be a standard s-video cable. Try a quick visit to a computer store, and see what video capture devices they have to offer, if you need more advice on these then please ask. An alternative solution would be to hook your camera to a stand-alone dvd recorder using the s-video connection. You should then be able to watch and edit this footage in your pc - you will probably need some software to do this(ask if you need help), but you should be able to at least view your footage in windows media player or similar. The cheapest option may turn out to be replacing your camera with a digital one that can be directly linked to your pc through a USB connection or similar. all the processing of the image is done by the camera and the software that comes with it, so no need for a graphics capture card. Follow this link if you wish to obtain more information about your Nvidia card. http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html Hope this helps :)
