1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad
.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

PROBLEM TURNING ON A LAPTOP

First of all charge the battery with the original charger.
30 Minutes later Then Just Presss the power switch at the upper right side of the keyboard.
If not, Replace the battery with the same code, and number part lacated at the battery printed label.
If the Laptop do not turn it On is a battery failure.
If it have more than two years of manufacturated just replace it.
Batteries without charging about a lot of time get batteries in failure.
Always you have to charge batteries to stay ok them.

Can't see my onscreen display after turning on F7 IBM T43 ThinkPad

set it to clone. it should give you identical displays. then try setting it to extended display. But make sure that your laptop display is primary display. That is why your external screen is displaying because it set on primary.

Key board of my laptop does not work. model lat d630.

if none of the keys respond and this just recently started, try turning off the laptop, then take out the battery and AC adapter. Hold the power button for about 10 seconds which discharges any power left. Connect the battery and AC adapter, restart the computer in Safe Mode and test the keyboard. If it does not work, try going to the Device Manager and uninstall the existing driver for the keyboard and let the OS detect it again. If this does not work, Dell has a utility to run a diagnostics on its component like the keyboard. You can look for a Utilities CD that came with your laptop and boot from it, then run the Customize Test option and look for the keyboard test. This will help you check if the keyboard is worklng.

Sony vaio laptop is turning on but the keybord+mouse not working

If your Keyboard and mouse are PS2 type, turn off your system, unplug them and try a USB type mouse and keyboard instead. If you are already using USB type mouse and keyboard, then try plugging them into different USB ports. Bootup in Safe Mode if possible. If you do not have keyboard functionality during the initial boot process, you may have sustained damage to the motherboard. The fact you mentioned a noise (speaker type?) and then lost component function, would indicate a possible hardware failure

T42 Turns off

Hi muneeb_shauk

It sounds like you have a lose connection. I wouldn't really be most likely under the keyboard but probably under the strip that is above the keyboard. That strip would need to be removed and reseat the connections. You might need to have a shop do that if you are not comfortable with taking off that piece.

Hope that helps,

Michael

Laptop ibm t43 does't turn on if it's not plugged in

This generally indicates that you have a short in the battery, or that one of the fail safes in the battery has kicked in. A new battery will correct the issue.
