plz try by reinstalling the drivers,if the problem is not solved then scan you pc with a updated antiviruse software.if the problem is there then change the usb cable and try with another usb slot.
If problem is not solved then plz try in another system. if problem is not occuring in the other system then your operating system is having problem otherwise your printer needs servicing

Select Save, wait for the download to end, close IE, launch the installer and connect the printer only when instructed.
Go to http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=330&modelid=6608 and then select your operating system to download the driver for this printer.
It means print head temperature rise error.
Most likely cuased by using non-Canon inks.Remove the head and clean with an ammonia based cleaner.You should see a build up of gunk/Completely dry the head anr return to service.
