Generic problem for all MP3 and Digital Media Players

I bought an mp3 player from someone I didnt know (i know, stupid me) it looks just like an iPod nano, it came with the software to convert the music and transfer from a computer to the player but my problem is the software is for a Windows 98 OS and I have Windows XP and a Macbook. how do I find software so I can put my mp3 player to use?
