A while ago my computer screen died out and for a while now I have been connecting my dell xps with Vista to my LG 32LC7D Television with an RGB-PC cable. I did nothing to set this up, it simply worked the first time I tried it. The quality has been excellent and what would happen was on the RGB-PC channel on the tv it would say "no signal" when my computer was shut off or if I had been inactive on the computer for a while. However when I turned it on (or if I just moved the mouse when I was inactive) it would say "invalid format" for a second then the image would pop up anyway, no problem. for the past week however the image had sometimes become staticy or start to move around for a few minutes and sometimes the signal would go dead and after a few minutes of turning off the tv or unplugging and replugging in the rgb cable to the tv it would fix itself. 3 days ago though I lost the signal again and now it appears to have become permanent. I bought an S-video cable which is what I'm using to type this now, but compared to my rgb-cable the quality is not only horrible, but its really getting to my eyes.
What do you think the problem might be, and how can I fix this?

- Just an update. I know now how to fix the problem, but I don't know how to stop the problem from happening.
How I fixed it was to go on my computer with the s-video cable and right click my desktop to personalize. I then clicked display settings while my s-video cable and rgb cable were plugged in even though the rgb cable wasn't showing a picture it did show as the second screen for my display settings. I think it was either when I "extended my desktop" to the second screen (the one connected to my rgb pc cable) or when I kept changing around the resolution on my second screen (and checking what happened) that I could finally see my desktop on my rgb connected screen. Then I just clicked in Vista to make my second screen "my main monitor" and when I went back to my rgb screen it worked.
A few days later the problem happened again, and I had to shut down the computer manually unplug the rgb cable and turn it back on so it only detected the s-video cable and made that one my main monitor again so I could sign in.
When I play around with the "display settings" like I did last time it will evantually turn back on my rgb screen (a little dim at first, but it fixes itself after an hour or so) so I know the solution.
I just need to know how to stop it from happening altogether now.
-   i have just bought an rgb cable and am wondering why there is n sound being transmitted to the tv. the picture is perfect but i am just wondering is sound ment to be transmitted? please reply -   Guest
sorry guys sound is not ment to be transmited through a rgb cable its just for higher quality video you can use a the red and white RCA inputs to get sound to your tv but you need a headphone jack -rca cable or if you tv has a headphone jack just buy a cable with one headphone jack on both ends
hope this helps
