to try and keep it short the main cable tv if you like comes in from virgin cable into set top box from set top box ,ariel cable from ariel booster to tv , tv to philips vidio/dvd player,dvd/vidio to tv, we have 2xscart leads connected to both points on tv that go to set top box and dvd/vidio units, however i cant see what differance this makes as the tv has been working fine for 5 years, the connections are all ok i have checked, leads ok the booster is working and the out side ariel is fine ,watching the tv this morning the screen is almost flashing, i have also disconected all units from the tv and went through the reset progame with philips help line , i think something is definately wrong with some internal part which needs replacing or some soldering of existing points thank you for any advice all appreciated in advance

hi there me again i have done the carinal sin ,i have removed the rear panel ,i have sucked up the dust looked at all soldered parts to the large central board and the 2 either side they all seem fine without pushing or pulling at them of course all the small white fuses seem in tact, i noted 3 green lights when put tv on on main central board ok, then i noticed a small green flashing light in the area behind the top section where the conections to the plugin items are inotherwords on the board directly under the top board would this light flashing be a signal to damaged area i wonder it seems involved to get off any ideas thanks .

  • joshriza Sep 23, 2010

interestingly i just noted that there are 2 x sockets like telephone conectors 1and 2 headed service, i find it unbeliveble that the technitions i have spoken to have not said anything and have asked for £50 call out and then to take the tv away when all they need to do is plug the unit in and read the fault unbelievable talk about money making

You can try taking Main Board out and resolder all the tuner pins and around IF circuit and any place that looks like a poor solder connection

Here Service Call Charge is $100.00 ($50.00) to come to your house and $50.00 to check out TV.
When I Make Service Calls ,I try to fix them in the Home at all cost to aviod having to take it in,
Most of the time I am able to do this if I have the Parts on hand and its a Fix and Go Repair.
Theire has been a few times when It was a Time consumming repair requiring more then an hour of work, then I have to try to bring them in shop .But trust me I had much rather fix it in the customers home then to bring it in. I made one service call and when I arrived at customers home and saw the TV 60inch Sony Big Screen projection and the long steps to front Steps leading to Front Door ,I went back outside to Truck and told helper that if we cant fix it here ,he will have to call someone Else. This was a Doctors Big House!

Any Good Repair Shop should always do their homework on Customers set before going to Make Service Call and carry with them the Parts they think they will need for that Make and Model.

Does this set have the T-Con Board in it ? I cant seem to find a Service Manual on this Model.
I know in some models they have T-Con board and if they are defective it will cause off color and picture.

Hi,

Thanks in advance for choosing Fixya for assistance,

I would like to know what input are you watching from?

Is it from the TV built in tuner or from an external tuner

with TV connections to RF Antenna or Audio Video In

of your TV.

Have you tried connecting your TV to other sources?.

just to conclude that the problem is the TV ?,

like a camera or VCR or similar to the

At the back of your TV the chassis number is printed on it, you may have to post it

Inside the TV ,( if you have already open it ) you can see the VS and VA voltage setting for your TV

you can also post these or not.( printed on a sticker on the chassis )

Here are initial thing to do ( If the unit has been open already )

we will have to start with all the Power Supply Output Voltages just to confirm ,

if it all have the necessary voltages to the drive( Vs and V a ) other circuits on the other Boards.

What I am referring are the DC to DC converters on the power supply, you should have

the 3.3V supply for your Y drive Board and other output voltages and post what you found.

It sounds like this TV has some fairly major hardware issues going on here. Does this problem persist regardless of what input you are on? When watching regular TV / DVDs, and anything else you may do on the TV? It all has an issue? Sounds like you could have display board failure inside the TV... and the volume issue is very strange. You are certain you aren't hitting that "button" in question and it makes the volume disappear? If not then I would suggest you may want to start looking into replacing this unit. Is it in face the Philips 42PF9946?

Thanks much,
Tim

Volume is at MAX every time i start my Samsung TV LCD LA37A550P1R

Check your manual for resetting the TV to 'Factory Default'. I have heard of this happening before. It may need you to press a combination of buttons on your remote. Usually you have to be pressing the buttons in sequence with the TV in standby, then wait for a service menu to appear. Look through this menu for the words 'Factory Reset'. It may be in a sub menu. The TV may well switch itself back off and then on again. At which point your problem should have gone away.

TV volume goes to loudest on it's own

It sounds like you may have a stuck micro button (volume button on tv) . You might try to push the up volume button on the tv several time and try to get it unstuck (if in fact that is the problem). Also sometime I have had situtions where the board holding these switches on the inside of the t was broke and had to be soldered and repaired.

TV is 1995 Model 25TRC1-0101 Magnavox. Seems to

The tv has been accidentally set for "demo mode". Press the volume up and volume down buttons in front of the TV at the same time for about 5 to 10 seconds untill the demo disappears or sometimes the TV will turn off. You should regain control of the TV after this.

My volume button goes all the way up to the max and stays there and sometimes my mute won't work how do i fix the problem

It looks as if your volume up button is stuck, either on the TVs manual buttons or the volume up button from the remote. To check if it's the remote, put the remote away from the TV, either in a drawer or take the batteries out. If the same check the Volume up button on the TV, it may be pressed down & stuck in this position. If this is ok most likely the volume button will be at fault & need replaced.

Vizio 37 inch channels and volume changing on its own

The circuit or integrated circuit being controlled has likely failed. You might try 'resetting' it by pulling the AC plug overnight. If that has no effect, a repair is unavoidable. This model seems to be developing a number of different problems.
