I have a laptop its an acer windows vista i got it for my graduation in may my mom had called compusa thats where she got it they said she had warranty on it becase she got a extended warranty they gave her another number to call she called and spoke with a lady she talked to me i told her what it said my computer had frozen so i let it set to see if it would unfreeze it didnt so i turned it off by the power switch i counted to ten and turned it back on it popped up to a black screen and said start windows normally i pushed it and it wouldnt go through so i rebooted it and it said i needed a cd the lady said i need to get the cd would cost 35 dollars so my mom had got it. It came in the mail Thrusday so that night i put them in and did exactly what it said to do and its didnt work what should i do now?

Take it to a compusa store, the laptop and cd, and try to get someone in site to try it for you. if they can verify that the cd doesnt work, maybe they can help you use your warranty.

In order to repair your windows you will need to use support windows DVD which ships along with your laptop. put that DVD in and reboot the laptop. but first you will have to configure your boot priority to DVD first here is how you can do that http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/bootorderchange.htm then next when that DVD boots up it, will ask you for complete new installation or repair windows. you can choose from there

Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you that require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -

Copy windows vista from my laptop to my acer pc


you can not just copy vista. you would need to get an install cd of vista and install it onto the pc. this still may not fix your internet problem as there is no guarantee that vista will even have the drivers for your pc components.

Reformating


You need to have a windows vista dvd or a recovery/restore cd from Acer. CD-less installation will only work if your computer has a restore image which should be installed in the factory. I dont think acer dekstops have that though.

Just call Acer and ask for a vista dvd or see if you know someone who owns a computer which came with the same version of vista and borrow their dvd.

windows vista has to be activated after a certain amount of days if not it will not let you operate it advent tech support can help you with this my mom has the same one and we had the same problem after we called them the issue was taken care of and we have had no problems since also be advised they can get you with the disks you should have it will cost about $20

You are still under waranty through Acer. It would be better for you to call Acer (number should be in you're manual). I'll bet they tell you to re-install windows. Fonts in you're system seem to be corrupt.
