Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have been able to connect my DVD recorder to my Samsung LCD Tv and can reord from the channels I get on this Tv.,. I have a TelstraClear Cable TV box with which I receive Sky Tv channels in digital format. I cannot see these using the DVD recorder. I have a digital coaxial TV output port on the cable bx but have not got a cable to connect to the DVD recorder which only appear to have an RC in port. Can you tell me how I can record from my cable box instead of or as well as the TV?

You need to connect the dvd recorder directly to the cable box:At the back of the box you can see that there are different possible connectors. Use the HDMI to send the signal to the tv and the Composite and audio connectors (yellow , red and white) to the recorder. At the back of the recorder you will see that there are several separate sets of inputs - plug in the cable from the box in one of them.
This way you will have 2 signal sources and 2 cables there - one from the tv and the other from the box. You will be able to record from both - just select from the menu from which.

How to connect motorola cable box to samsung dvd/vcr model vr375 to a Westinghouse hdtv with 2 hdmi connections

The DVD-VR375 does not have an HDMI input. The connection should be:
• RED WHITE & YELLOW CABLE from your cable box (AV OUT) should connect to the DVD-VR375 (AV IN 1). Set the DVD-VR375 to AV 1 using the INPUT SEL. button.
• Next, connect an HDMI cable from the DVD-VR375 (HDMI OUT) to the TV (HDMI IN). Set the TV to the proper source.
This connection would allow the recorder to work as a pass through and will let you record TV programs as well as watch your cable channels.

Hope this helps!

How do I record tv programmes

from the specs I have read online you cannot record with that dvd unit in this sound system it's just a player that plays a lot of different formats like dvd-r/w dvd+r/rw. so to record you need to get a dvr from your cable or sat company or get a seperate dvd recorder.

Cable box, digital service, channels not appearing

connect the RF lead from the wall to your cable box then out from that to your dvd then out from your dvd to your tv. now connect a scart lead from the cable box to AV 2 on the DVD then connect AV 1 on the DVD to your TV if you have a second scart on your tv connect that to the cable box. NOW on the DVD select AV2 now whatever is on the cable box will be recorded onto DVD/VCR. Put the DVD recorder into VCR mode and set it to auto tune all the Digital Video Broadcasts. You cannot physically tune the cable boxes own channels into the DVD via RF it has to be via a scart.

Hooking up a DVD player to a LCD TV

Typically, there is no video out from TV. You would have to connect the satellite receiver output to the DVD recorder input and connect the DVD recorder output to the TV. Word of warning - digital signals (DTV coax or HDMI) from the satellite receiver carry copyright info embedded, which may limit what it will allow you to put on a DVD. Typically anything can be recorded on the hard drive of the recorder, but programs from subscription channels may not go to a DVD.

Watch while recording

Make sure the DVD has RF lead and Scart lead connected in and also BOTH connected out to the TV. When you record from TV use channel numbers, when you record from cable use AV channel, (on DVD). When watching TV use TV channels 1 to 5, when watching Cable use AV channel, (on TV).
