Hi, check all cables are in then if the problem is still their then switch off at mains for an hour then try again. If you still have the problem then this means their is an internal fault on the printer.
Can you count how many times it flashes as this is a sort of error code.
Get back to us then we can assist you further ok

@Ekse sorry bro didnt mean to jump you, hows you doing anyway mate.
As for the error code this is what i asked and depending on how many flashes this tells us some sort of code hopefully Ekse can shed some more light on this....

  • paul proctor May 17, 2008

The flashing lights tell us their is a fatal error with the printer could you just check if the ink lights are on all the time and its the power light and paper light that are flashing.
If it is then this usually means the printer will need stripping down and given a good clean it may be that the cariage has lost its grease and causing it to give the error.
Ill look now for you for a service manual but you usually have to pay for these, but ill have a look and get back to you shortly ok.

Hi, i found this one but its 9.99 usd but its the complete repair manual and tells you all you will need to know ok.

Im still looking for a free one for you ill keep you posted and let you know hopefully i can find a few free ones for you.

Let me know if the link dont work but i tried it and it should but just bare with me for a bit hopefully i can find a free one.

This is what you need to do to hopefully solve your problem it involves stripping the printer down and giving it a good clean that manual above will guide you through the whole process once this is done your printer should be working as normal ok.

Ill post back here if i find any free ones ok but ill let you know either way ok

I found this one its slightly cheaper than the other link i gave you ill keep you posted ok hopefully ill locate a free one

Hi, sorry mate looked every where and asked alot of friends but i cant seem to locate a free service manual or repair manual, the only ones i come across you have to pay for. But in the long run if you can repair it and it can be repaired then it would be worth paying the small charge.
But remember this is at your own risk and if you are unsure what you are doing then you could damage it further.
The manuals are pretty good and go into step by step details on how to strip and clean the printer usually this is the problem and can be solved by a good clean and re grease all the moving parts that need greasing.
The only reason it shouldnt solve the problem is if something has broken beyond repair most of the time its just a case of cleaning the sensors and greasing any moving parts.
But just be warned in case it is beyond repair.

Its difficult from my end telling you the actual problem as i dont have the printer in front of me and i cant see whats going on.

Hopefully the manual will solve your problem but just take your time and be patient.

Work somewhere clean and safe and somewhere where you cant lose any parts as this will cause huge problems ok.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

I just replaced all my inks and it is still telling me to replace my cartridges i also turned it on then off

  1. Open the scanner.
  2. Press the cp_button_14.gif Stop button to move the cartridges to the replacement position.

Caution: Do not move the print head by hand; this may damage your all-in-one. Always press and release the cp_button_14.gif Stop button to move it
  3. Open the cartridge cover.
  4. Press down all the ink cartridges until they click into place to make sure they are properly seated.
  5. Close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.
  6. Close the scanner.
  7. Press the cp_button_14.gif Stop button to begin charging the ink. This takes about 2 minutes.
When the On light stops flashing and remains on, ink charging is finished.

Never turn off the Epson Stylus CX while ink is charging or you'll waste ink.
If the ink light flashes, press the cp_button_14.gif Stop button and press down all the cartridges securely.
If you remove an ink cartridge for later use, protect the ink supply area from dirt and dust and store it in the same environment as the Epson Stylus CX with the label facing upward. Note that there is a valve in the ink supply port, making covers or plugs unnecessary, but care is needed to prevent the ink from staining items that the cartridge touches. Do not touch the ink cartridge ink supply port or surrounding area, and do not store the cartridge upside down.

If you remove a low or expended ink cartridge, you cannot reinstall and use the cartridge.

How to change ink cartridges on an Epson CX 3800

Be sure you have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Once you start replacing a cartridge you must complete all steps in one session.

1. Make sure the Epson CX printer is on.
2 Make sure the document cover is closed, then open the scanner
Caution: Do Not open the scanner when the document cover cover is open.
3. Press and release the " ink " button. The ink cartridge moves to the check position and the
" On " and " ink " lights flash. If one of the cartridges is low or empty, the printer moves the
cartridge to the _ink out mark.
Note: Don't hold down the " ink " button for 3 or more seconds or the printer starts cleaning the print head.
Caution: Do Not move the print head by hand; this may damage the printer, always press the ink
button to move it.
4. Press the " ink " button again
a. If more than one cartridge is low or empty, the next cartridge moves to the_ink out position.
b. If all of the empty or low cartridges have been identified, the print head moves to the ink
cartridge replacement position.
5. Open the cartridge cover.
6. Squeeze the tab at the back of the empty/low cartridge and lift it straight out.
7. Before you open the new ink cartridge package shake it four or five times, then remove it
from the package.
Caution: Do Not remove or tear the label on the cartridge; otherwise ink will leak.
Do Not touch the green chip on the front of the cartridge, this can damage the
ink cartridge.
8. Place the new ink cartridge into the cartridge holder and push it down until it snaps into
a. Replace any other cartridges that need to be replaced.
9. Close the ink cartridge cover and press it until it clicks into place.
10.Close the scanner.
11. Press the " ink " button The print starts charging ink and the " On " light starts flashing. This
takes about one minute. When it's finished the " On " light stops flashing and remains on.
and the " ink " light goes out.
Caution: Never turn off the printer while the " On " light is flashing or you'll waste ink.
Note: If the " ink " light stays on ( not flashing ), the ink cartridge may not be installed correctly.
Press the " ink " button again and reinstall the ink cartridge until it clicks into place.

Black ink not printing

You have to run a head cleaning cycle:
Follow these steps to clean the print head:

  1. Make sure the Stylus CX is on and the cp_light_183_er.gif ink light is off.

  2. Hold down the cp_button_48_er.gif ink button for 3 seconds until the cp_light_1.gif On light starts flashing. The Stylus CX runs a head cleaning cycle and the cp_light_1.gif On light flashes.

alert_caution.gif Caution: Never turn off the Stylus CX while head cleaning is in progress. You may damage it.

  3. When the cp_light_1.gif On light stops flashing, turn off the Stylus CX.

  4. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.

  5. Press the cp_button_48_er.gif ink and cp_button_1.gif On buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds. The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes a nozzle check. Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle check may look like:

Nozzle check pattern with no gaps im_158_er.gif Nozzle check pattern with gaps im_159_er.gif

  6. Examine the nozzle check. If it does not look like the nozzle check pattern with no gaps as shown above, repeat steps 2 through 6.

alert_note.gif Note: If you don't see any improvement after cleaning the print head three times, turn off the Stylus CX and wait overnight. This lets any dried ink soften. Then try cleaning the print head again.

If you do not use your Stylus CX often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least once a month to maintain good print quality.
