check to see if the pin on the antenna is broken off. take the antenna off and look inside the bottom that goes to the radio and check to see if the pin is still there if not it is probably broken off inside the antenna jack. also check to see if the squech knob is not turned all the way to the right. if so turnit back to the left all the way. you should hear sounds.
