Question about Husqvarna Lawn Tractor - 54in. Deck, 26 HP, Model# LGT2654

1 Answer

Two Problems 1. I have tangled a hose under the cutting deck of the Husqvarna ride on mower with 54 inch cutting deck 2. It does not start all the time, I though there was a problem with the battery so I went to get it checked, they said it was alright. I came home and put the battery back into the mower then it started. It went fine until I ran over the hose I started it again with out the deck engaged and on high and moved it back into the shed then went to start it again and would not start

Check your battery cables for signs of broken strands of wire at the terminals. Often the vibration of just normal use causes the wires to break at the terminal connections. This is to include the solenoid terminals and the lead from the solenoid to the inside of the starter.

If the terminals and wires are fine the next suspect is the solenoid. Use a healthy screwdrver and short across the solenoid to see if the starter engages. If it tries to start but will not move the starter then the most likely suspect is the brushes in the starter. If it motors the starter normally after you short across the terminals of the solenoid then suspect the solenoid itself. The internal copper terminal is excessively worn that the copper wafer strikes when the solenoid is energized.

If none of the above recommendations correct the problem try a set of jumper cables on the battery and see if you get a normal start. The battery can have 12VDC but have coated battery plating so that it can not deliver the amperage needed for a normal start.

After all of this if you still have the problem just respond here and I will do my best to help you. I will tell you that any steps after this will involve wiring.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

As far as the tangled hose the only thing you can do is cut it away piece by piece. You may even have to resort to using a hack saw to cut it away. Hopefully it did not wrap so tightly that it damaged the blade drive bearings on the bottom of the bearing mounts. If it did you may have to chage the blade bearing assy.

Will a 22hp Kohler engine replace broken 27hp Kohler engine on riding mower with 54"cutting deck, without any problems. The 22hp is on L series J. Deere and The 27hp is on G100 with the larger deck??

I don't think it will easily interchange. Of course you can always adapt anything, however don't think this is a good idea. Not with a 54 inch cut. Kohlers are usually easy to repair and overhaul. I would try to replace with same engine.

Husqvarna problems

Your deck either engages with a cable or an electric clutch, which one is it. Cutting deck engaged when started is a switch issue.

My 2 year old Husqvarna riding mower, with the welded steel deck, has the mulch kit installed ( I installed it). When cutting, the mower ususally leaves a thin line of uncut grass. More, when the grass...

I too have had that same problem. I found that "old" blades when repeatidly sharpened and worn will cause the same problem, also aftermarket blades instead of original manufactures recommended blades may not be dimensionally correct, too short. I have had to go back to using original blades to correct the problem.
This should work for you.
Good luck.

How to remove shaft assembly from mandrel housing of a husqvarna yth2348

It's much easier to do on the tractor.
1. Leave deck installed.
2. Jack tractor up and lower deck.
3. Run a heavy wire through the mandrel pulley's tie down hole.
4. Raise deck and tie wire around the deck.
5. Lower deck and remove top nut.
6. Raise deck and remove shaft.
You can modify this procedure to loose the nut if you don't have a jack and remove it once the deck is off. Retorque nut to 35 ft. lbs during install.

What size and how many blades do I need for my husqvarna 21 hp riding mower with a 46 inch deck?

Well I guess laying down next to it and taking a look under the mower deck is beyond the question. One could ask about how many teeth the horse has or just look in its mouth. However, I am going to guess 3 blades as 2 blade units usually are 42" cut maximum. Mine is 48" and has 3 blades.

Husqvarna 54 inch rider, fairly new, bought used. Deck will not fully lower or raise even after levelling per manual. Are 54 in decks more susceptible to this type issue?

the Rake adjustment is critical on this mower make sure the front to back is within 1/4 inch of each other with front being the lower this adjustment is on the front if its a single rod the bracket that attaches it to steering axle is probably sprung back this happens from running the mower into something with the deck.

Taking off the mower blades on a husqvarna z4824

Sometimes the blade bolts are tight from the factory.Try and lift the front of the mower to get under the deck if you don't want to take the deck off. If you don't have an impact gun use a small piece of 2x4to wedge between the blade and the edge of the mower housing to stop the blade from turning while you use a 5/8 socket on a 1/2 inch breaker bar or large ratchet, be careful you don't slip and cut yourself on the blades, wear gloves and when reinstalling blades be sure to align the star hole in blade with the star on the blade mandrel
