There is a thermostat that is seen on the unit , you will have to set the thermostat to a lower level. Also check if there is any gasket leak to confirm that the cooling does not stay.
Keep the cooler away from hot spots to encourage the cooling to stay.

Air Temperature Sensors
The air temperature sensors are a 2-wire negative temperature co-efficient thermistor. The vehicle uses the following air temperature sensors:
• Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
• Inside Air Temperature Sensor Assembly
• Upper Left Air Temperature Sensor
• Upper Right Air Temperature Sensor
• Lower Left Air Temperature Sensor
• Lower Right Air Temperature Sensor
A signal and a low-reference circuit enables the sensor to operate. As the air temperature surrounding the sensor increases, the sensor resistance decreases. The sensor signal voltage decreases as the resistance decreases. The sensor operates within a temperature range between -40°C (-40°F) to 101°C (215°F). The sensor signal varies between 0-5 volts.
The input of the duct air temperature sensors are different from the ambient and inside sensors. The HVAC control module converts the signal to a range between 0-255 counts. As the air temperature increases the count value will decrease.

The HVAC control module monitors the upper left and upper right duct temperature sensors when the mode switch is in the VENT or BI-LEVEL positions. The HVAC control module monitors the lower left and lower right duct temperature sensors when the mode switch is in the DEFOG, FLOOR or FRONT DEFROST positions. The duct sensors are used to measure the temperature of the air exiting the ducts to help maintain a consistent cabin air temperature. These duct sensor inputs provide the HVAC control module a way to determine if the engine needs to be started to maintain a specific air temperature. If an upper duct sensor circuit failure is detected the HVAC module will not request an engine start to help cool the cabin. A lower duct sensor circuit failure will not prevent the engine from starting.

At what temperature is the thermostat?
The temperature should never be lower than 70?F (21?C) for the unit to operate properly. If your temperature setting is above 70?F, then your unit might have a problem with the temperature sensor that controls the "on/off" cycle on your unit. For that you will need a professional certified HVAC tech to inspect it.

Most people think that lowering the temperature to the minimum will cool the room faster, but that is not the case. Since HVAC units move the air at a specific rate, it can only transfer the temperature, thus cooling/heating the air, within those parameters. That's what the calculation for the BTU is for. Normally cooling/heating the room to the desired temperature should take about 1 hour, but some new inverter units can do it in only 30 minutes or so. Lowering the temperature constantly or even keeping it at the lowest setting may cause premature failure of the unit.

68 degrees.

Electric water heaters never power BOTH the upper and lower elements at the same time.

If the water in the tank is cold, either the top OR bottom element will be powered through the upper thermostat (t-stat), never both at the same time. The upper t-stat will send power to the upper element until the temperature of the water in the top of the tank reaches the set point of the t-stat say 140 degrees. When the water temperature in the top of the tank reaches 140 degrees, the t-stat is "satisfied" and disconnects the power from the top element and sends it to the lower t-stat.

IF the temperature of the water in the lower half of the tank is lower than the set point of the lower t-stat, the t-stat closes to send power to the lower element. The lower element REMAINS powered by the t-stat until EITHER the water in the lower part of the tank reaches the set point temperature of the lower t-stat again, say 140 degrees; OR the temperature of the water in the upper part of the tank drops, at which point the upper t-stat "calls" and switches the power away from the lower t-stat and sends it to the upper heating element instead. When the top t-stat is satisfied, it switches power back to the lower t-stat. The process will continue back and forth for as long as needed to bring the temperature of the water in both halves of the tank to 140 degrees.

You must wait until the top of the tank is heated - before the lower element will be powered to heat the water.

I have a Kenmore Electric Dryer #76974150. It only works right the higher heat setting. Will not heat at all on the low heat settings? Any ideas?


If the dryer is running then the thermal fuse is okay.

The temperature is controlled by three parts. There is the operating thermostat which is on the blower housing and is rated at 150 degrees. This is high heat.

The operating thermostat sits in a thermostat heater which is controlled by the temperature switch. The temperature switch controls how much voltage passes it to the thermostat heater. This is how we achieve lower temperatures. There is about a 15/20 degree difference between high heat and low heat.

The restricted vent may have caused the appearance of the dryer running hot.

I would suggest you check the temperature coming out of the exhaust. It can be checked with the vent hose pulled off. Any thermostat with a range between 120 degrees and 160 can be used. With the vent removed check the temperature of the air in the exhaust. At high temperature it should cycle between 135 degrees to approximately 155 degrees. This is high heat.

If you turn the temperature switch to a lower setting such as delicate you should see a lower temperature in the exhaust. It may only be 15 degrees lower but it should show a lower temperature.

My roof air will only cool down about 10 degrees below outside temp. What should I ckeck first?


On a hot day (80+) check the temperature difference between the indoor coil's inlet and outlet, it should be 20 degrees lower under normal circumstances, if the air temperature is lower than that you may need to clean the indoor coil fins.
Next check the same thing at the outdoor coil; there should be about a 30 degree rise in temperature when the air exits the coil. If the temperature is higher you may need to clean the outdoor (condenser) coil.
