Kingston 2gb pendrive shows the drive but unable to open, format what to do

I have had this solution many times in the past, unfortunatly there is only one thing you can do...

This is assumeing you are running windows 7.
1. Open Command prompt by searching cmd in the start search aera. Right click on it and press "Run as administrator".
Type in the following - (Replace x with the drive letter that is indicated by windows.)

format x: /U

This will reformat the drive assumeing that there is no damage to the NOR chip and its command block.

I cannot format my pen drive as there is some virus in it

  • You must have an updated antivirus to scan your pen drive. I recommend you to use full version of avg 8 or avast. It will surely delete those viruses on your system and so as in your pen drive.
  • Or you can format your drive with this steps:
    1. Go to start menu
    2. Click Run and type cmd
    ==A command prompt shows.==
    3. Type cd\
    4. Type format x:
    5. Press Enter key
    6. When done type exit
  • Please vote... your vote will highly be appreciated. Thanks in advance...
