Since the day I bought this computer 2/01/08, it dials up without prompt. I have "chatted" online, on the phone, and been told several solutions. None of these have worked. I live in an area where only dial up is available, but I don't want it dialing up for a connection w/o being prompted to do so.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

ou can save up to 8 phone numbers in your speed dial book. The speed dial keys go from 2 to 9. When you place a call, our system prompts you to "enter the phone number you wish to dial". You just press the appropriate speed dial key followed by the pound sign (#) and your call goes through. No long numbers to enter any more!
If you set a speed dial for our access number on your phone machine, you have to press three keys only to complete a dial - as easy as "1-2#"! That's it!
For example, you can set your parents' phone number as speed dial key 2 and your friend's number as key 3. After dialing the access number from your phone, you will press 2 then # to reach your parents, or press 3# to reach your friend. Nothing could be easier! Speed Dial set up Instructions: Dial the access number, wait for prompt. Enter PIN number, wait for prompt. Dial: "#" "2" "#" [a speed dial number: 1-9] "#" [destination number] "#". The system will confirm the number. Example: [#] [#] [#] [011-888-88-88-88-88] [#] Use Speed Dial: Dial the access number, wait for prompt. Enter PIN number, wait for prompt. Dial: [speed dial key (1-9)] "#" Hope this will help to solve the problem....
The phone jack on a laptop computer gives the device an ability to connect to a dial-up Internet connection. If there is something wrong with the cable connection or the phone jack, the Internet service is not going to reach the computer. If you are experiencing an Internet connection problem with a dial-up service, it is important to correct the problem. With the proper tools and know-how, you can have your computer reconnected to
1. Check the cable connection running into the computer. If the cable is not inserted completely, then the signal is not going to reach the computer. Replace any cable that does not have the plastic clip on the tip of the connector. Without the clip, the cable cannot stay connected to the laptop. 2. Spray a shot or two of compressed air into the phone jack port. This removes dust, dirt and hair from the interior of the connection port, ensuring a clear connection between the cable and the laptop. 3. Connect the laptop computer to a different Internet source (such as a wireless or DSL Internet connection), then navigate to the dial-up modem's manufacturing site. If the dial-up connection came built into the laptop, then this is the laptop's manufacturing site (such as "Dell" or "HP"). 4. Select "Support," then "Downloads" and choose the operating system and laptop you are using. Click "Download" next to the driver and allow it to be download to your computer. Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installation wizard. Follow the brief set of prompts to install the driver. If the old driver has become corrupt or removed it prevents the laptop computer from connecting to the Internet through the dial-up connection.
Most of the time on laptops if there is no phone input for a modem you cannot just plug in and dial up. The process i use at home for my pc is dialing through my cell phone. If your carrier will allow you to tether your phone without extra charges check your phone manufacturers website for modem software. You then just connect your phone through a usb cable and set a internet connection matching your carriers instructions. Another solution is dificult without networking knowledge but you can set up a home pc with a wireless antennae as a ad-hoc server through internet connection sharing and then allow your laptop to connect through the "server" pc.
Try to make a new connection shortcut and make sure your telephone line is properly connected on your modem. Also make sure that your password and username is correct. another thing is check that your system date is correct.. Hope this works ! ITTech7574
After going around and around and around with YOU people, I finally gave up and took the damned phone back to the store where I bought it. The first store wouldn't take it back, because I had the receipt (which was from early September, 2008 - which was past the 90 days), so I took it to their other location and told them that I lost the receipt. I got a brand new replacement. If the new one should fail to work, I'll take it back again WITHOUT the receipt, and upgrade to another brand. Thanks anyway.
Ah, you can no longer use the modem or the Blitzz screen to connect to your Internet connection. You'll need to patch another Ethernet cord from the router to your Ethernet port on your computer and it should automatically connect.
If you still get prompted to dial, open up Internet Explorer and ignore any prompts to dial and then click Tools, then Internet Options, then click the Connections tab at the top, then click the selection to Never Dial a Connection. Confirm your choice by clicking OK and then try browsing the Internet like usual.
